There are WHL refs around.

Well for one, the rules between the leagues are different,

Secondly, officials have to be vetted, trained and approved by the IIHF before they can work international tournaments.

Thirdly, the WHL officials are already working and have no break in their schedule to just casually drive or fly to Edmonton to pick up a couple games at their leisure.

Well thought out idea though.
