I haven't turned on Tkachuk. My opinion has never changed on him. I was never a huge fan of his antics and while I think he's a talented player he's always going to be a complementary guy because of his poor skating. Throw in the fact that he probably doesn't want to be a Flame for a minute longer than his contract permits and yeah he's not one of my favorite Flames because I feel he's going to be wearing the jersey of another team in a year or two.

They have a significantly better management team.

The Flames finished ahead of the Golden Knights that season. By 14 points. They took Krebs at 17 we took Pelletier at 26.
They aren’t that different of prospects tbh. Sometimes GM’s and scouts can get enamored with one guy

Lol of course.
People say, it's not BT's fault, he didn't have what Buffalo wanted
Buffalo wanted quality
It's an indictment on BT that in the span of 8 years, he didn't build up an asset base that he could use in a trade like this when the chance came up
History going to remember this as an elite 1C getting moved for non elite, quantity
Swing and a miss, again
Can't wait to lose Gaudreau and Tkachuk over the next 12 months.
By then, we'll have 2 years left on Lindholm and Hanifin... our 1C/1D combo... and as much as I like them, that's weak sauce if the goal is to win the cup
BT's lucky the team started hot, it will take the heat off of him for now. Sutter's the reason the group is currently playing well. That will only go so far, for so long. We are still a team built around a tiny winger with lesser peices supporting him.
You could argue our 3 best players are all LW's
History not going to be kind to Boston Pizza I don't think

Because they traded for him. Normally teams don’t trade their star centre franchise player for players they don’t want.

Not even close to comparable to Mangiapane

I would take Tuch over Mangiapane ten times out of ten.
If you wanna compare 0.5 seasons Mangiapane has 1 in his last 4. Tuch is bigger and they're the same age.

Well that sucks. Was in the midst of reading the other Eichel thread with about 5 pages left to go. Saw that it got locked and immediately got excited thinking it was finally happening.
Only to see stupid Vegas AGAIN get the big name. Man it sucks they are in our division. It's the NYR all over again except we get to play them with regularity, they have our number, has seemingly endless assets, and now get the big fish.
I'm sure BT tried his best. Lame ending to what might have been this organizations' only chance to get a legit top #1C for the foreseeable future and probably the duration of it's existence.
Wishing the trade implodes or laughing at VKG for their 'cap hell' is lame and reeks of pettiness.. I'd much rather it be us other teams were wishing implodes, or laughing at our cap crunch with Eichel's cap. Would mean we're doing something right. Not excited to face McD one night then Eichel the next for the next decade. Sigh.

Really the only way this makes sense is if Eichel’s injury is bad. I would love to see his MRI!
Otherwise, I cannot fathom why another team wouldn’t have stepped up with a better offer, let alone the Flames.
Edit: if I were the Flames neurosurgeon and his films and clinical history were concerning to me, with this specific injury, what would I tell them? I would have stopped short of advising against the trade, but would have cautioned about investing too much into the player (trade/contract etc). Maybe that happened a lot around the league.

Mangiapane's rates and overall impacts are significantly better.
Only thing Tuch has on him is size

Why didn't 30 other teams beat Vegas? And considering calgary was the other finalist, why didn't 29 other idiot GMs beat Treliving's offer.

I didn’t even want Eichel. If we got him I’d have to be happy. This way I can continue to whine and complain. That hot start threw me off for a bit, couldn’t #### on the players or coach anymore. But I’m back on the negative train now and I’ve got Tre in my sights. Nothing worse than being a happy optimistic sports fan.

Just woke up to this news, thank God. If the rumours were true yesterday, the ask had gotten way too nutty.. I'm a little disappointed, but way more relieved. Sorry to the Flames fans that were super pumped about acquiring him though

Yup, the negative posters were always going to have a field day with this once Vegas won the deal. Don't worry though, they would have had a field day if we had acquired Eichel with how we overpaid, he is broken, etc...

Because they traded for him, doesn’t mean the offer couldn’t have been beaten. Which is what most posters here are upset about.
