NMC isn't a big deal IMO, we have no other goalie to protect in expansion and really if Markstrom flops his contract is going to be unmovable anyways.
6 years isn't great, 4 or 5 would have been better but it's free agency that's how it works.
The real key is AAV.
$5 and under - a steal.
$5.5 is my guess.
Anything above $6 and that's no good.

9.5 million for 7 years.
This way, when the real contract comes out, I will be very pleasantly surprised and feel like it is a bargain!

I hope it is under 6million AAV. I’ve given up hoping it is not too long a term.

This deal has to be around 5.5 for us to still sign other significant talent.
Fingers crossed.

Yeah because crippling us with 2nd rate goalies and always chasing them is much better.

I'll be honest, I don't think Ryan Leslie knows anything.

But man do I like a 5-6 year deal at a reasonable cost for Markstrom more than 2 years of Kuemper and not having Connor Zary in the system.

Zary and the 2 extra players they got in the trade downs

How much did we pay for years for tandums of Rittich/Talbot Rittich/Smith?
After this year count Rittich off the books and have a cheap back up

I can't imagine a scenario where this guy knows the dollars term and trade protection and isn't reporting it.

It may. I don’t know what I’m talking about, I’m a message board poster.
I’m glad we got Markstrom. Between Holtby, Jake and nothing, we got something, and that’s not nothing.

Kevin Woodly from In Goal magazine was just on the TEAM 1040 in Vancouver, and he likes the Holtby signing, but also cautioned that he is biased for having a pre-existing relationship with Holtby. He went on to say that while he thinks it's a good deal, the loss of Markstrom is a big one. He is adamant that Markstrom is the best goalie on the market by a substantial margin.
