Sorry, but if there aren't any consequences for poor play, you end up with the Oilers of the last decade. Bennett deserved the benching.

I'm sick of Derek Engelland every game the guy is good for one or two brutal giveaways. He can't pass the puck if his life depended on it. And Chiasson takes 2 offensive zone penalties last game and didn't miss a shift or get taken off the PP. What message is that sending a young kid.

Bennett played stupidly last game. After the benchings. Not before.

Last time when he got benched, it was on a bad call by the officials. You have to back your players up in those situations.

Right lets say if Hartley, or a another coach has Bennett's back, he is going to play for the coach. Benching a player in front of other rookies/team just makes him feel defeated. It puts him off his game and likely affects his confidence.
