I'm going to vote PC. In my riding it is between the NDP and the PC's, with the NDP slightly favored I'd say.

I just can't get with the socialist views of the NDP party, there is also no way a$$'$ can cash the cheques their mouths are writing. Personal and coorporate tax rates will increase much more they promise. The inexperience within the NDP party is someting else that worries me. None of them have ever had to make a tough desicion in tehir political careers, thus far all they've done is pander to the unions, the public servants and the lower income earners. There is nothing wroing with wanting change but the NDP would be a 180 from where we are now, and for people to be debating between the WRP and the NDP is just absurd, they are complete opppossites.

But being in my late 20's I truly believe there will be a time in my life in witch something other than oil will be the most economically viable option. Usually you have to go looking for oil and then move it. Most other options we are looking at, Sun/Wind mainly will come right you if you have the means of storing it.

I'm not one of those who thinks some switch will be flipped and over night we will be some hemp wearing, rabbit eating, wind powered society. But low maintenance and logistics costs will over take oil one day in the next 50 or so years.
I just can't get on board the "alternative energy train", so much uncertainty, revolving around the uses and demands as well as the technologies.

It's not really a question of getting on board, its a question of continuous improvement.

As the environmental cost and human costs of things like coal and oil are fully applied to the equation they are already becoming less viable. And burning fossil fuels as an industry is already vary developed and efficient. As producing/consuming engery in other ways becomes more efficient they will just become more attractive.

Like I said this is not some switch you flip, you don't just tell people to do it because its the right thing to do. You invest the time and energy to make alternative options the most viable. I also think diversified power generation is in our future.

If we knew how a wide scale more sustainable grid would look we wouldn't need the R&D.

Voting NDP and I'm not sure there's anybody in Edmonton who isn't, at this rate.

Wide open race with Hehr not running in Calgary-Buffalo. Voted Liberal on the weekend because I think PC would get its fair share of vote for their red tory candidate and I would like to see a new party govern.

Anyone noticed the riding is in the shape of a buffalo? Kind of? Or is it a fish?

Spoiler!

This isn't really the place for this discussion, but how do you juxtapose our reliance on oil for its chemical uses? In other words, sure we can run cars and houses on solar power, or compressed gas, but look around you. Almost everything you see and probably whatever you're looking at this on is made of petroleum products or by-products. Even a lot of what we eat these days has to be factored in. In theory this "stop using oil" message sounds amazing, but like a wise man once said on TV "Communism works...in theory!"

I don't what shape it is, but considering the voter tendencies there over the decades its amazingly not a salamander!

I'll probably mark Wildrose today, as I do believe the PC's deserve a bit of a kick in the arse, but sure as hell don't believe that kick should come from the unwieldy boot of an NDP government. I'm actually quite surprised, as I always figured that there'd be a change of the guard in some way, but the NPD? Yeesh.

I thought Jean was a little less impressive in the debates, but simply have more hope that the WR would manage the books better than a PC (and certainly an NDP) government. Concentrating "just a bit more" wealth into the hands of the government and their coffers (whether it be from corporations or individuals) just doesn't strike me as an answer here. My read of the book "Barbarians in the Garden City" about the NDP's time in BC left an impression long ago, and I hope many Albertans have the "sober second thought" once the ballot's in hand.

I hope Albertans avoid the "Devil You Know" syndrome at the polls tonight and vote out a tired, corrupt, right-wing establishment that needs to better reflect the voting base of a modern Alberta.

Not sure what the NDP's can't do that PC has already done. The PC's had control of easily the richest province with the greatest resources in Canada, and managed to squander it. They're oil and gas friendly, and still couldn't turn a profit. Time to give someone else a chance, since anything would be better than the status quo.

THIS.

I honestly can't picture what goes through the mind of someone voting PC today.

"Well we were rolling in cash and LITERALLY handing out FREE money not that long ago and now we're in a deficit cause oil dropped for half a year. Seems like they're doing fine."

I'm having a heluva time finding a polling station. I've never had a rural address before, so I'm having trouble getting the system to tell me where to vote.

Oh, I guess I could take a look at that. The wife grabs the mail. I don't ever really look at it.
