Gary Lawless reporting Buchko gone as well. Wow.
EDIT: Wade Miller a former Winnipeg FB has been named the CEO. Seems like a good hire. He was recently named one of Canada's top 40 under 40 businessmen.

The last-place Winnipeg Blue Bombers cleaned house in the front office on Friday by firing general manager Joe Mack and president and CEO Garth Buchko.
Former Bomber Wade Miller will replace Buchko on an interim basis. It wasn't immediately clear who would take on GM duties.

Naylor brought up those names I bolded for who Winnipeg might be interested in hiring as their new GM.

Marcel Bellefeuille hired reportedly as consultant in Winnipeg, presumably to help Gary Crowton with the offense.

You just watch that carousal spin and with them coming back to Pierce starting in Regina in two weeks. This just keeps getting better.

Finally Jon Cornish won the Offensive Player of the Week award and not just Canadian Player of the week. I am beginning to think whoever is voting for the Player of the Week is just focusing on Cornish as Canadian Player of the Week and ignore him as an Offensive Player of the Week no matter how awesome he played the week before.
Chad Owens is the Special Team player of the week. While DB Alonzo Lawrence is the Defensive Player of the Week. Both players plays for Toronto Argonauts.

I liked Max Hall from his college days at BYU. Hope he does well (although given the situation and his lack of CFL experience, the odds are not in his favour).

The show in Winnipeg right now is good, not as good as the Mike Kelly show though. Who knows it might reach that level though.
First, Burke sounds like a guy who doesn't' want to be coaching.
Quote:
#Bombers head coach Tim Burke clearly doesn't agree with Max Hall starting at QB. But letting offensive asst's make the call. Bizarre.
|
Quote:
#Bombers head coach T Burke says OC Gary Crowton and staff making the QB decisions now. Not the HC. Baffling.

Then this which I think contradicts itself:
Quote:
Justin Goltz says he feels betrayed. Gary Crowton says Goltz was rushed into starting QB role too soon. #Bombers

Buck Pierce, now the No. 2 QB, appears completely confused by who is making the decisions. #Bombers

A football team needs a hierarchy amongst the coaches. The HC needs to be the king and all decisions must have his blessing, even if he doesn't necessarily agree at first. Doesn't exactly sound like that is what is happening here.

Winnipeg needs to figure things out and fast. This is not only poor for on field results but for business as well. I want nothing more than a healthy, profitable, exciting on field CFL. Winnipeg doing their best P.T. Barnum impression is not helping the cause.

How about this: The #Alouettes have brought Anwar Stewart out of retirement! Does anyone have Jason Armstead on speed dial? Is he next? #CFL

How did the Stamps manage to have DeAngelis, with him be the best kicker in the league, have him leave, and then Sandro turn awful at that exact moment?

I'm sure the Stamps saw on film that his rapidly expanding head would throw off his balance on field goals.
Have to admit though, Sandro was a beauty for the Stamps and a big reason why we won the Grey Cup in '08.

That Stewart moves reeks of desperation. Stewart is 37. Jock Climie, Bryan Chiu, Mike Pringle coming out of retirement next? Popp is struggling to find talent. And I don't feel a ounce of sore for him.
DeAngelis is expected to start this week that's according to Bob Irving. Kirk Penton tweeted that DeAngelis's kick-off avg less than Palardy's last year.
Renaud has the best punting avg in the league and Palardy is a solid FG kicker inside the 40. I'm just scratching my heads at the moves being made in Winnipeg the last two days.
