I cannot believe Winnipeg didn't go after George Cortez as an OC. Him and Tim Burke had history together in Calgary.

How much longer is Mack going to survive? I just came across this reading something and he has a career record of 21-39. That's a winning percentage that sits at 350%. Just looking at their remaining schedule I think 6 or 7 is the amount of wins they will end up with this year.

CEO Buchko recommending Bombers fire GM Joe Mack

Blue Bombers CEO Garth Buchko has made a recommendation to the team’s board of directors to fire GM Joe Mack.
A member of the board told the Free Press today that the board is scheduled to meet next Tuesday but that an emergency meeting could be convened in the interim.

Mack has led the Bombers to a 21-39 record in his three plus seasons at the helm.
It’s expected the Bombers will promote assistant GM Kyle Walters on an interim basis if the board approves Buchko’s recommendation.

He's done. People who I think will be interviewed for that job, Duane Forde, Eric Tillman, Tom Higgins, John Murphy, Jeremy O'Day, and Mike Murphy (Cal's son). Those last three sound better than those first three IMO.

Gary Crowton is more likely then toast as well, that's Joe Mack's boy.

I've spoken with four #Bombers board members today. At least a couple are clearly unaware of Buchko's plans.

Just looking over their Canadian depth its terrible, sleeping on free agents two years in a row didn't help, Reilly looks like he is going to have a future in the CFL and Mack again for whatever reason fell asleep at the wheel, the OL needs work, the offense has been a mess since LaPolice was fired, holding on to the walking and wounded (Pierce) has hurt the team, and the backend of the defense needs work as well.

Their front 7 and their receivers are really about the only that's good on that team. It seems only fitting Mack is apparently on his way out because they have a fairly big rebuild on their hands in Winnipeg.

It's interesting that Popp even bothered to come back to the sideline.

He's been loosely linked the past two offseasons to potential NFL gigs. There is really nothing for him to gain (only to lose) by being a coach, if a management position in the NFL is the next step he hopes to take.
