This one really bothered me when i read it...i guess because i have met the man on a few occasions and vividly remember him as a player. An all-time Stampeder great.
RIP Herm "Ham Hands" Harrison.

and truly some of the largest mitts on a man I have ever seen. He simply dwarfed my hand when I shook his.
Great player, great person.

I didn't know Herm well myself just enough to say Hi Herm, he used to hold me up by 1 hand. But my Dad was deeply saddened with Herman's passing. He introduced who would be Herman's eventual wife Gayle many years ago at a nightclub.
Funny thing is they were a couple right from that night but didn't get married for another 12 years or so.
My Dad said his greatest memories of Herman was talking politics, many late nights playing snooker and poker. Said Herman was always the voice of reason when they went out as a group. Always well respected.
Said that Herm faced a lot of racism and turned his cheek to fair amount of idiots being that Gayle was white and it was a big part of the reasons why he didn't move to the the States after the CFL, but Herman's personality in Calgary won over so many people.
Asides from his fame with the Stamps he was an Add rep for CKXL for years.
Even though he has not seen Herman since the mid 90's my Dad is not looking forward to this funeral at all.
As he put it man Herman was one of the good ones.

Johnson, Bolden and McDaniel all out, likely for the season.

Any idea who would slot in for Johnson and Bolden? McDaniel is a big loss as well, no doubt, but the Stamps are quite deep at receiver.

I'm on my phone or I would copy and paste the tweet, but Ryan Leslie (@fan960ryan) is saying on Twitter that Nik Lewis told him that he may be back for the West Final.

that would be fabulous...but only if he is 95% or greater. Anything less we have enough guys to fill his void.
Im more concerned about Johnson and Boldens replacements

so looking at Stamps.com looks like Junior Turner is depth replacement for Bolden and Legare for Johnson. If they do in fact replace the aforementioned it certainly weakens the pass rush but gives us ratio flexibility depending who is in. Freddie Bishop and Earl Okine are on the PR as DLs, Corey Mace and Kevin Huntley on IR and not sure how their injuries are right now. Maybe Lemon moves inside? Would also be great if we could get West to take McDaniels spot...or move the big Fuller into McDaniels spot and put West outside.

I believe he also said he would only suit up if he can actually play and help the team.
And yeah, Stamps have so many receivers, especially if West is healthy. D-Tackle is a spot of concern as both BC and Sask have shown they are capable of running the ball well.

Funny, that's exactly what I was going to say.
I worked at the old XL radio when it was on its last legs and I got to meet Herm one time. Shaking his hand was like when you're a child and shake the hand of an adult.

I didn't mind Bishop in his limited action and he's been around for a bit now so he'll be a suitable replacement.
I'd expect Okine to come in as well. Not too worried. The team has been finding guys all year.
Nik coming back would be HUGE. Mo, Nik, Fuller would be a handful for either Sask or BC, not to mention our MOP RB.

If Fuller sticks around for next season I wouldn't be surprised to see him become the best receiver in the league. He's good

Nik Lewis frequents a place I'm always at. He said he'll be playing in the West Final no doubt about it. Take it for what it's worth.

If Hufnagel replaces Imports Bolden and Johnson with any 2 of these non-imports Legare, D'auiglar, or Junior Turner that gives him a good ration to deal with.
He could then dress West, Fuller, Lewis (if healthy), Price at receiver. Along with Parker, Arthur etc who are Canadian.
That's a really good receiving group.
We will also have Jon Gott back and possibly a few other O-lineman.
Injuries suck, but thank god we have Hufnagel and his mastermind ability at finding players.

There's no way we're starting 2 NI on the DLine. I don't even think we start 1.
The 7 NI starters will be Gott, Deane, Jones, Federkeil, Cornish, Fraser, Arthur. That means 3 import Rec. Price, Fuller, Nik with West subbing in.

Its not as simple as putting receiver a in for receiver b though. Marquay was a pure slot receiver, where as all the others listed are wide outs. IF Nik can come back...that would be massive and certainly make things easier all over the place.
Jabari Arthur is the only other SB on the roster who isnt injured...and im not sold that he can do what is needed. Again if Nik is good to go...then all that stuff sorts itself out. If they can get Nik at SB AND dress West, Price, Fuller, Parker and Stafford...I would feel a lot better. That D line situation though...really scary. No question that Bolden and Johnson are the main reasons for the success that Law and Hughes found this year. Hopefully Turner and possibly Okine can really take a step.

Tough year for Stampeders alumni passing away. Herm Harrison, Sig Gutsche and Jack Gotta off the top of my head. Bill Powers too.

I think Okine is slotted to play in the Western Final. Maybe they will move Cordarro Law inside and bring in Shawn Lemon on the lineup or keep Law outside and use another big lineman like Bishop.
As for the receiving core, Stamps are thinking of using Jeff Fuller as a slotback replacing McDaniel and put Joe West and Maurice Price as a wide receiver. I don't mind that lineup but hopefully Joe West stays the whole game though.
As for OLine, I think Jon Gott will be ready and maybe Stanley Bryant as well. I am hoping Tsoumpas comes back as well. One week rest so hopefully that will help some of the injured players heal. It will also give the new guys like Okine, Bishop more time to study the playbook.
