That was another thing. For whatever reason Hartley soured on Blair Jones who was playing fine in the 4th line role. Sending him to the minors really never made a lot of sense given the lack of natural centers. Wonder what happened between them for him to be banished to Abbotsford.

It's because Hartley is a terrible coach.

Could also have just been fatigue from travel and working his ass off the first 2 periods. Based on Hartley's decisions so far that's probably not the case, but it's possible.

It was mentioned when he was sent down by a CP user that they had heard of a shouting match between Jones and Gelinas. Could have been that?

For the record, I thought Young Guns 2 was a much better movie than Young Guns. Having Bon Jovi do the soundtrack and music really made the sequel. Maybe that's all the Flames need?

Damn, this is the sequel, son. Or at least the previews of it.

Was at the game last night and it was by far the worst game I have watched live. And yes, I was around for the Young Guns era.

I find it a bit odd that we actually do have enough NHL calibre centres in the system, yet the coaching staff forces wingers into the centre position. I don't care what Jones did, he deserves to be on this team right now. Going forward I would like to see the following lines:

Tanguay - Stajan - Cammalleri
Cervenka - Backlund - Hudler
Horak - Jones - Stempniak
McGrattan - Begin - Jackman

Giordano - Butler
Brodie - Wideman
Sarich - Carson

Boom, there you go. 4 lines with 4 centres. How difficult was that?
And yes I understand that Butler is pretty much the love child of Satan and Zarley Zalapski, but this is honestly the best we have at the moment.

This line-up won't win many games, but at least it won't be embarassing like last night.

I don't see the point of bringing rookies in next season so they break into the league playing on a team with no defensive structure. Keenan killed Phaneuf's game this way and you build up players by teaching them the right way to play in the NHL not the wrong way and try and correct the mistakes later in their careers.

Also as has been mentioned Hartley just doesn't like to play the kids. In a nothing blowout game he staples Horak to the bench. What the hell does that serve? That's how he killed Sven's confidence as how is a player supposed to improve or even knows what he has to improve on when he's stapled to the bench? I am very worried about the prospect of starting next season with Sven and say Reinhart and MacKinnon (if the Flames are so lucky) with Hartley behind the bench considering what happened this year with callups and Sven.
The real irony in all of this is that Brent Sutter would have been a much better coach for the young kids in a rebuild.

Glad we went for it!
