Couldn't park in my normal parking lot because I couldn't did the road. A foot of snow everywhere and I couldn't find the road leadin into it. That and the parking lot was completely filled with snow and my cobalt would have surely got stuck. What a weather outside!

So far I haven't had to change my oil (or add oil) anymore than I would have had there been no "leakage." My mechanic speculated at how expensive it would be, and let's just say doing nothing seems like the best alternative.

Yikes. How hard is it going to be for a guy from Red Deer going to the game tonight? I plan on taking Deerfoot to Memorial Drive NE. Should I give myself an extra 1/2 to 1 hour?

Its funny, because I'm looking out the window of my office, and its not a real heavy snow fall, and it doesn't look like the type of storm that I grew up with. I think we're wussies.

And that everyone works with computers, cause you know, there's no manufacturing sector in this city or anything. And even if there was, welders and painters and all those other trades can just do all that stuff in their living room. Not to mention the people in the service industries.

Speak for yourself, old man! You must be getting soft in your age. The younger generation biked to work this morning, and it was buck wild: Black ice under soft snow, I must have bailed 15 times on the way in.

Id rather be stupid early than be late, the game is 7:30 so you'll be on your way there around rush hour (5-6pm)

If your early just hang out at the restaurant or better yet go to the buffet at the casino.

Agreed. I'm taking someone who has never been to the Dome before, and I want to show them around and see warm up anyway.

According to the website, the Dome opens 1 and 1/2 hours before game time (it's been far too long since I have been there myself). Will be getting there right in the middle of rush hour, and with winter driving conditions it may take a while to get down there.

I want to take my Toyota Echo for the city driving, but am leaning towards the Chevy Lumina to cope with the snow. Decisions, decisions.

I thanked him because it's not often someone actually burns CC and it makes sense.

I don't think I NEED to go to work. I can do my job remotely.

My employer, however, thinks I NEED to. They pay me. They win.

Soft in my age? I think its spelled SMART not SOFT. Fact is that the generation previous to mine invented this cool thing called an automobile. Its a horseless device that allows us to get from point A to Point B while listening to our favorite Benny Goodman CD in a heated environment with somewhat comfortable seats, in any weather condition.

Riding a bike in the winter doesn't make you a hero, it makes you a red faced, shivering person that smells like sour vinager in the first meeting of the day while you shift around in your boardroom seat trying to alieviate the pain of crotch rot.

While guys on bikes are falling over 15 times on the way to work, guys like me are deciding whether the 5 or 10 point rule applies to you.

Holy mother of God you're old:

Believed to have been invented in...

Late 19th century or early 20th century, or whatever the hell that World of Motion ride at EPCOT said.

Actually Invented in...

A French inventor named Nicolas Joseph Cugnot built one, back before the American Revolution.

Back when most people were blaming their diseases on fairies and the evil eye, Cugnot had one great idea: a horse carriage minus the stupid, smelly horse. In 1769, he finally finished his horseless carriage; a steam-engine-powered automobile that looked like a steampunk Big Wheel.

It could carry four tons while traveling at the break-neck speed of two and a half miles per hour (people had really weak necks in those days).

Why did we never read about Napoleon's mechanized, steam-powered army trampling England under their godless robotic wheels? Well, the inventions had problems. While testing his vehicle in 1771, Cugnot lost control and discovered the unique sensation we've come to know as "crashing into a brick wall." You might think that you could laugh off such a crash at five miles an hour, but try it while sitting in one of these #######s.

Despite being an undeniably revolutionary invention, it was still slow, heavy and horrible to drive. Cugnot ran out of money to improve his invention, and while the French government was interested in continuing with the idea, a little uprising of the people called the French Revolution put an end to that.

Cugnot escaped to Belgium where he lived in poverty. Fun fact: There were about 600-700 million people on earth when Cugnot was born. That's also how many cars there are now.

Hey I remember the fear with the early automobile. It was rumored that if the human body moved faster then 30 miles per hour it would basically fall apart.

Yup it was that way until local drunk and daredevil Billy Jack Macowsky powered up his model T and accelerated it to a smart 31 miles an hour and he didn't explode.

Unfortunately he was drunk at the time and he drove into the side of the old Simpson barn killing himself and 7 chickens.

But it was a great day.
