I wonder once all the dust settles on the pending trades, especially Tanev/Hanifin, if the flames look at Ty Smith in Pittsburgh who is reportedly very frustrated with the lack of opportunity he’s had since the Marino trade swap with the Devils. He looked like he was putting up respectable numbers for a young D prior to the trade and he hasn’t had much success cracking the Pens big club lineup but he hasn’t looked out of place in the Ahl. Something to consider? Sandman what’s your read on Ty Smith?
The general read on Smith is that he's slow and weak, which impacts his ability to play defense (combined with his size) and his offense isn't good enough to compensate.
He's a #6/7D and PP specialist, and should not be a keystone piece of a trade

lol nah, there's got to be another 20 years left. It is my favourite time waster when work is slow lol

Kylington - Anderson
Lohrei - Weegar
Soloyov/Poirier - Pachal/UFA
Pachal/UFA
I dont see why Boston would do that
Considering his age and how he is playing in a tough situation, if the roles were reversed, I would not want to trade him for Hanifin straight across. and I like Hanifin
MAYBE Zary becomes a C. MAYBE Coronato can play C. Otherwise, Lipinski is the only C there.
You add a Holtz, and he slots in with the other 5 or 6 guys at the top of that list. But if you add Mercer and Lundell, suddenly you have 2 full middle-6 lines of NHLers, with lots of top 6 potential.
The Flames are starting to build some depth. But it is all at wing. Add two quality Cs, and suddenly everything takes shape.
Conroy has to focus on Cs at this point.
Agree with your list but have to give kerrins some legitimacy.

They are hard to draft too so maybe just don’t get centers if it is too hard.
lol that’s why you need to get a lot of picks and preferably some high ones. It’s not a controversial stance that a rental isn’t likely going to pull a good center prospect back. Lindholm and Chychrun are decent comparables for a Hanifin trade.
I think Andersson can pull a good centre prospect back though. Term and the Flames only move him now for a good offer.

I want to agree with you, but he looks like a career AHLer to me. Maybe he carves out a short NHL career, but I don't see a solid contribution to a top 9 there.
I wonder if Carolina can be a trade partner for Markstrom.
They seem to be having another one of those years with great advanced stats but the save % is poor.
The owner is cheap, a retained Marky for 2 years would be right up his alley.
Necas and a 2nd for Markstrom at 25% retained?
I have my doubts that they would want to pay much for Markstrom. They have Kochetkov who they eye as their future franchise goalie. He’s pretty much their Dustin wolf. He’s already playing nhl games and is just a bit inconsistent right now. Has stellar games but also some flops. They also have Anderson coming back. Not saying they wouldn’t want Markstrom , I just don’t think they would pay the price for him .
