It could happen I suppose. At this stage something to wake these guys up and make them focus. It's not common for a team with multiple Division titles in a row to fire a coach mid-season. But the Bill's have been sloppy and seem to beat themselves too often.

Just finished. Game decided by the always cheesy DPI on an underthrown ball, followed by 12 men on the field after a shank. Lovely..

The underthrown ball would be intercepted by a competent defender. It's the ones that are beat and can't turn around that gets penalized.

That's probably a mistake. McDermott has a .626 winning percentage coaching the Bills. Good luck finding a replacement that's going to do better. The defense is decimated with injuries and the offensive skill isn't that great outside of a small handful of players. It's going to be hard for any coach to win with this team as long as Allen is playing highly volatile football as he has all season.

I've seen that said often and it's like people gloss over this man was in charge for:
-13 seconds
-12 men
-Numerous wasted challenges and time out gaffes
-Conservative and cowardly play-calling (ex: picking the half-time field goal against the Chiefs in the 2020 AFCCG which pretty much sealed their fate)
I will always appreciate McD changing the culture and breaking the drought but it seems like 13 seconds was his ceiling. It's time to see what an offensive minded coach can do.

Yeah, I don't think you can fire the coach who's won 3 straight division titles, has 4 playoff appearances in the last 5 seasons, and made it to the AFC championship game two years ago. I think it's more likely that Dorsey and/or Frazier get canned first.
EDIT: That said, I do think McDermott struggles with his in-game and clock management.

I've seen people mention the Broncos in this exact scenario. John Fox gets them to the Super Bowl but loses and they part ways after a 12-4 follow up season. They hire Gary Kubiak and immediately win the championship. Not sure why McD deserves such a long leash when his ceiling so far is getting thrashed in the AFCCG.

Another thing that drives me bonkers, the constant shotgun. Though I've heard that might be an Allen preference which makes it even more maddening.

Might be at a point where the players are no longer responding to McDermott. He supposedly is big on fundamentals, but you have a team making some pretty basic mistakes. Not every coach can stick in the same place for a decade like Andy Reid or Mike Tomlin, or Bill Bellichick with Tom Brady propping him up.

Something had to be done, but if they fall apart from here on out then surely McDermott is also gone at years end.

Josh Allen is a gunslinger and that is going to be an issue.
They have talent on offence and he can make big plays but he is erratic.
He like Favre in that regard got the big arm and trusts that he can make everyt throw and sometimes you just can't make those passes.

When you look at their schedule here on out, I have a hard time seeing a scenario where they make the playoffs.

They likely need a 5-2 record from here on out and the Division might be their best path. Miami still has the Jets twice, Dallas, and an improved Raiders team. So it's not impossible that they end up 10-7 as well if the Bill's won the last game of the season. So that might end up as the last Sunday nighter if you have a 10-6 Miami vs 9-7 Buffalo with the loser missing.
This Thursday game for Cincinnati is huge for them. They've already lost to Baltimore and Cleveland and have two other in Conference losses. They also have a tougher schedule too since they play in a tough Division and have 4 of their wins vs the NFC West. I think 10 wins will get you in, but if a Denver or Vegas get hot here...maybe not.

Of course in textbook Browns fashion this happens after he plays his best half in a Browns uniform. #FactoryofSadness

Wow, if Cleveland can still somehow make the playoffs Miles Garrett might win MVP.
Watson finally looks a bit like the player who had the whole league excited in his rookie season and as SCD says...this hits. I only saw the last drive and he looked to have some type of upper body discomfort after a run. But I think that was the left shoulder so does not look related.

Who would have thought that fully $230 million guaranteed contract would be a bad idea? Haslam has nobody to blame but himself for this mess.
