Not really. I check in from time to time to see if there are any updates on what went down and I was surprise about fans resorting to attacking his character. I don't want anything Bingo. We have an Edmonton is no good thread and I have participated in it since the beginning but then again I'm no hypocrite have chosen to be better than Oilers fans. Maybe we should lock that thread because this thread is making us look no good.

Again for us adults it’s a on to the next era of heartbreak with this team but I really do feel for the young Flames fans out there who were treated to a season that I never had the pleasure of seeing at a young age only to see their hero bounce a month or so later. Big hugs to those younger flames fans who are undoubtedly crushed by this.
If any fan is blindsided over this then that's their problem really as this was always a high possibility.

I don’t know. The NHL and any professional sports definitely wants their fans to make it personal. How else can they make you spend all that money?

No different then people using CP as their opportunity to lay down some moral authority. If you don’t like the venting and upset responses to the bizarre departure of a player that’s been the biggest for the franchise since Iggy you don’t have to read. It’s hilarious to me to hope for a ‘better’ CP that didn’t have people posting their emotions about a team/player they are emotionally attached to. People are pissed, people like to use CP for what’s it’s designed for and post about topics related to the team they cheer for. Pretty easy to understand the upset responses in here.

This holier than thou finger wagging is nonsense. Flames fans have every right to be upset at how it went down. It just wasn’t done right from the many indicators. It’s a fan board. Who give a damn if we look better or worse than Oilers fans? Does a message board tarnish the reputation of a team? Who aside from Flames fans are reading? Silly.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we're reacting way better than Coilers fans than when Pronger asked for a trade out of dodge because his wife hated there and immediately won a cup with the Ducks...

Oh man now you’re arguing with fellow fans about unrelated things to the thread? Oilerfanesque.

The fact anyone could be embarrassed by something posted on a message board, is actually lol worthy.

On the good days yes it's an easy crossing with Nexus.....You can't bank on that. Whenever I fly international, I always get to the airport about 2 hours before the flight leaves, and Canada customs/the airlines recommend 2-3 hours early for all international flights.

Looking at flights right now, the ideal one to Philadelphia from Calgary is 9:40 AM to 6:16 PM with 1 stop-over. So you're really likely looking at 7:40 AM to 7:00 PM, with clearing customs, baggage, etc...That's with a transfer that could be a massive pain for a woman with a baby plus baggage. And that's also if everything goes right. If there are delays, you could end up with many extra hours of travel time, plus have complications like missing the connection.

Massive difference from a short haul flight in the USA. The USA is a country based on travel, and the short haul flights are not only easier and less time consuming, but far more common, as you have multiple airlines devouted to short haul flights. So if something does go wrong with your flight, it's an extremely easy process to find another flight on most days.

So you're basically looking at 2:00 PM to 4:45 PM for the Columbus to Philly flight. No customs. No stop-overs. Much easier process. You're strictly in the domestic wing of the airports, so no hauling a baby and luggage huge distances.

Once again, I'll bring up the Vancouver/Calgary flight time, which is almost identical, and players frequently play in either city to remain "close" to home.

I'm embarrassed at the embarrassment felt by those outraged at those that are outraged that they're embarrassed.

Be better, everyone except me... I'm too embarrassed and outraged.

Lol you do you EE. But how about let others deal with it their way?? If you’ve moved on why even come into a thread that is irking your? This holier than thou approach to handling a player of Johnny’s caliber departure from the team versus how others are handling it for comes across as arrogant.

I think 97.76% of the comments in this topic are completely fine.

Who needs to be better?

I know I haven't personally said anything off side on this topic in the last two days. Hope I meet your approval.

It was a very detailed story. No we don't what happened, any more than we know Edwards was in on a call, or chewed Gaudreau out, like EE said. There's a lot of smoke: Gross' comments, the Treliving presser, the Gaudreau interview, and other reports of what the Flames offered .

Not to go all Kevin Lowe here, but I doubt there’s a big overlap between the people who spend lots of money on the NHL and the fans who make nasty personal comments about players on social media.

Rich?

Get bent man ... seriously.

I'm an optimistic person that doesn't see rain clouds in every topic. I don't plan on changing.

Put me on block if you wish.

If you do you'll probably miss the times I'm disappointed too by the way.

The thing is that we don’t actually know the exact details of what happened and everything is just speculation at this point…so that’s why I try to refrain from attacking anyones character.

Really all we do seem to know it that feels like the sucks for all sides and nobody appears to be happy here except for Columbus.

Flames feel like they were led on and negotiated with in bad faith. Whether that’s because there was a “ultimatum” given by Gaudreau (personally I doubt it would have been worded that strongly), or just because in the end the Flames felt like they were the best offer and met his price and he still decided to leave. Either way if feels like the Flames are justified to be frustrated here because they had the best offer and he still left.

Gaudreau seems to have a sour taste with the Flames org based on his actions since leaving. We have no real details here except for the potential Edwards verbal beat down…could they Flames have done something more that is making Johnny mad at them? Who knows.

Gaudreau also doesn’t seem to be very happy to be in Columbus. He left $15M on the table, still doesn’t get to live out his childhood dream, and is on a just okay team from an in the ice perspective in Columbus. He did not seem even a bit excited about being in Columbus yesterday, didn’t have a lot of details about the team or city, and didn’t seem like himself at all.

Gross doesn’t seem to thrilled with how it went down either based on how quickly he seemed to try to cover his own Butt. He negotiated a great deal for his client who didn’t take the best offer available to him. Potentially he was frustrated too if he feels like Gaudreau backed away after making an ask for a specific offer.

Really this went ####ty for all sides involved and could even end up being horrible for Columbus if Johnny isn’t actually happy there and pulls a Jeff Carter after a year.

We likely never know exactly what happened, but it’s clear what ever happened on Tuesday didn’t end well.
