My only question is how much time are people in Calgary spending in customs? Every time someone mentions flight times they always say (flight time) + customs.
I fly out of Calgary to US 30+ times a year. I have never spent more than 5 minutes in customs using NEXUS. Id assume Johnny and his wife travel enough that they have NEXUS.

Edwards losing it certainly makes sense if you remember Trelivings presser where he said "I don't anticipate that happening" when he was asked about the possibility of John circling back the next day. And I have zero problem with them ripping into John if they indeed went radio silent and backed out despite the Flames matching their asking price.

This thread is starting to be a bad look for Flames fans. It's starting to read like HF Oilers.

People liked to compare the Gaudreau situation to the Landeskog one. I'm willing to bet Stan Kroenke left all the negotiating to Sakic and at the 11th hour didn't intervene and chew his ass out.

I just thought we were better than this. We all had months to prepare for this possibility and it's like some here actually didn't think him leaving was a possibility or something.

I’m willing to be Landeskog didn’t set a number, have it agreed to by the Avs and then back out anyway.

That’s fine. I mean, I really haven’t said anything one way or the other in this thread. Some people get more attached to certain players then others, therefore some emotional responses will be harsh. Really not a big deal. If someone wants to vent, a online message board is a decent place to do that.

How do you know that's what happened? I get that some fans feel spurned by the player but there's a lot of name calling and criticism here based on pure speculation.

Have you not read the thread? There’s a pretty detailed story out there.
How do you know Edwards chewed him out? Do you only want to believe that part and not the rest?

I don't have a problem with fans being upset.
I don't have a problem with fans speculating on what happened and discussing it.
Sounds like some poor faith negotiating may have happened but it's certainly not a fact.
His wife clearly would have had influence, and she should. We can admit that, but no one should be mad at her for it ... it's her right, and this would be the case in any happy marriage.
I just think people need to watch that line ... blaming someone for having a say where they live is somewhat silly.
I've scanned this whole topic, and I only see about 1% that are inappropriate.
Fans are allowed to be disappointed.

It’s the way that it happened though EE, can’t blame the fans who invested a near decade in the guy. I mean it’s not every off-season a team loses a 100+ point player to UFA, in fact it’s the first time that’s ever happened so I can understand why some posters are upset. With him waiting until the 11th hour and potentially reneging in a demand that was met by the Flames and its even easier to understand the sourness around here. If Johnny owed the Flames and it’s fans nothing which he demonstrated not with his decision alone but how he went about making it then the Flames and it’s fans certainly don’t owe Gaudreau good luck wishes and roses on his way out the door. The guy hasn’t even said thank you the proper way yet, I mean how many upset 5 to 10 year old Johnny fans are there in Calgary? It’s like he hasn’t even considered them.

No I haven't read every single page of the thread because I have already moved on. He was one of the best players in franchise history and a treat to watch. Now he plays for another team. Sun rose this morning and I'm more interested in current Flames news and possible signings.

It would be better if people didn’t treat CP as their emotional dumping ground if it means saying a bunch over over-the-top, embarrassing stuff. None of what anyone does in the NHL, from teams to players, is personal… but people sure take it that way.

Then why did you click on this topic and start reading and commenting?
Tongue in cheek for sure ... do what you want.

We know that happened how? Oh right, an anonymous comment from a self-proclaimed insider. From a thread full of unsavoury speculation about Gaudreau’s wife, family, partying, manhood, etc.
The fans raging about this are no better than the Oilers fans who melted down over Pronger leaving. It’s embarrassing.

Just because you’ve ‘moved on’ doesn’t mean that’s an as easy thing to do for the next fan. Your showing a lot of compassion towards Gaudreau and his family and their decision which is fine, show some too though for the thousands and thousands of crushed flames fans who clearly feel blind sided by this. Again for us adults it’s a on to the next era of heartbreak with this team but I really do feel for the young Flames fans out there who were treated to a season that I never had the pleasure of seeing at a young age only to see their hero bounce a month or so later. Big hugs to those younger flames fans who are undoubtedly crushed by this.
