It depends... He signed his current deal in the summer of 2017, but it didn't start until 2018-19.
When he signed it, the cap was $75 million, so his $12.5 cap hit was 16.67% of the cap. When it started, the cap was $79.5 million, so his cap was 15.72% of the cap.
- The cap for 2025-26 is $95.5 million. 16.67% of that is $15.91 million.
- The cap for 2026-27 has already been announced and will be $104 million. 15.72% of that is $16.35 million.
- If he asked for 16.67% of next year's cap, it would be $17.33 million.
Draisaitl's $14 million is the highest cap hit in the NHL this season.
