Is it really a surprise that 2 relatively unknown college players are a long shot?

I love how people already assume that we'll pick 30th. Yes, there's a good chance of that happening, but it's not set in stone that the Pens will crush everybody. I for my part hope they crash out in the 1st round ... but even if they win the cup and we select 30th: try to package the pick (with other picks we'll hopefully acquire) to trade up, or keep the pick and draft a guy like Nic Petan. Hardly the end of the world.

So I was just informed, by my 6 year old daughter, that the Iginla no longer plays for Canada and that he plays with a penguin, lol. She has no clue who he even is but I guess there were 2 boys crying in her class about it.

Wait dont the devils have to give up their first round pick this year? So Pitts pick at worst would be 29th Overall? woop!

This year or next year.
EDIT: Devils had to surrender a 3rd rounder in 2011, and one 1st rounder between 2011-2014. Since draft is in Jersey this year, I doubt they surrender the first until next year.

yeah but the Devils host the draft this year. For that reason alone, I expect them to keep this year's pick and forfeit next year's.
Still don't understand why they kept 29th last year. Would have been the perfect year to do it.

Didnt realize they had the option to do it next year too. Who knows though if they go on a bit of a run, and draft in the 20-30 range they might get rid of it.
Also Agostino gets in assist OT for Yale to win 3-2!

Reason: goal scoring change

Agostino scores the game winner in OT. Two goals in a playoff game isn't bad
Yale moves on to the final 8, knocking off #2 Minnesota
edit. officially giving the goal to someone else; Agostino with the assist

yeah, the NHL penalty was to forfeit a 1st rounder at some point between 2011 and 2014, plus their 3rd rounder in 2011. Obviously they kept their 1st in 2011 because they won the lottery and were able to draft Larsson 4th overall. But as I said, it was surprising that they chose to keep their 2012 pick, as it was 29th in a pretty "meh" draft (they picked Stefan Matteau). I just can't see them forfeit their pick in 2013 - it's a deep draft and they host it ... they probably want to give their fans a reason to show up.

Well I remember some rumours around/after the draft was that they were hoping Jankowski fell to them at 29. Don't know how legit those were.

It fits pretty well.
If memory serves, Lou Lamoriello didn't look too happy going up onto the podium when his draft pick came up. It seems plausible that they wanted somebody, but they were taken.

I was watching on my Kindle while working, so best I could say is I heard his name a lot. When I was watching, he seemed to be around the puck a lot, played with energy. Scored a nice goal, and worked hard on the winning goal

This is such crap and people believe it. Why would the Flames ask for a one way contract, they would prefer a two way contract so if they sent him to the minors (where he belongs) then the Flames would save money. And why in the world would the team tell him that the Flames specifically asked for him. He is a border line NHL player and no GM in any league is going to get his input, or inform him of any discussion, about trades. The only time they would talk with him is when it was done, signed off, filed with the league and then they would tell him "you have been traded to Calgary here is your plane ticket". There is too much conspiracy theory crap coming out of Boston and I for one can't believe that you people buy into it.

Bartowski now says that Boston wanted the 1 way:
Jimmy Murphy @MurphysLaw74 6h According to other reporters after I left Bartkowski scrum after practice he was asked again about who requested 1-way deal & said Boston.
Jimmy Murphy @MurphysLaw74 6h
Apparently Bartkowski misunderstood my question. My apologies to Twitter world.

If this trade was made in EA it would have said "I almost feel guilty saying yes to this deal, as I figure Pittsburgh is making out like gangbusters here compared to you..."
