Truthfully I'm not an expert whatsoever. More or less i read a bit about the main brands out there and the movements. And a lot of people here chimed in and dm’d me too with useful info. After some here pointed out watches arent forever and it’s not an investment (aside from Rolex), I decided to go with Seiko after falling in love with their faces. To me they stood out in that range. For a lot of watches under $1.5k or so it also seems for serving they’ll just throw away and replace the internals rather than service it. Ultimately in that range it comes down to what catches your eye. It’s a fun process to look around like others have pointed out.

I love "the citizen" line from citizen with eco-drive. I think you can get them discounted quite a bit off msrp. But even so...more than your budget and would be quite the splurge.https://www.citizenwatch-global.com/...ome/index.html

These seem to be really cool if you can find one: https://www.casio.com/ca-en/watches/...matic/efk-100/

You should try and see if you can try on the Tag and/or Seamaster. Aura is a real thing.

I've honestly been tempted in buying a used beat up automatic Seamaster without box/papers for cheap. That way I can finally satisfy a 20 year ish itch from not buying a quartz Seamaster with basically my life savings. If I really bond with it, even in such a state, I'll consider a much higher quality one as a midlife crisis watch. Seems like a better use of money than something like Hamilton, Mido or Yema watches that tempt me that I'd probably move on quickly from.
I've tried both on, and that's what has made me confused. Had a buddy who let me wear his Seamaster basically a whole evening. It confirmed that I loved the watch. I've worn a couple Rolexes and that confirmed they just don't do it for me.

Then when I put the Aqua Racer on at a boutique I was floored with how pretty it was and I loved it.

I just can't decide for myself which one I like better - it's not a question of compromise at this point. I love them both. But I'm defo not going to buy two blue-face dive watches.

I personally prefer the look of the aquaracer due to the hands and the slimmer proportion. The colors seem more youthful as well and I think the bracelet tapers, which is also modern. And in line with trying to attract the more youthful consumer, the value for price is better here as well.

All that said, the sea master is a more iconic watch, with more history, and a better internal specs.

I have never vibed with Omega tbh. I don't like the sword hands or the lack of bracelet tapers.theh are great watches though. So yeah, I get the whole "I'm supposed to like it more but I don't like it more." Everyone is different. You like what you like.

I just bought a Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro 300, it is a watch specific to my unit.

Pretty excited
