Whole lotta drama coming out of Philly. There had been rumblings that Chip Kelly and Howie Roseman (Eagles GM) weren't getting along. Then this week the Eagles fired VP of Player Personnel, Tom Gamble, who is also a good friend of Kelly's. This was after Kelly's end of season press conference, where he basically called Roseman a glorified cap consultant.

Guess we get to be Niners East. Yay.

The Bucs, if they are indeed taking Mariota, would be total morons to not do everything they can to get Chip Kelly. Lovie is horrible and him with a young QB will be a disaster. Chip and Mariota? Hmmm...

I don't think the Eagles would bite on trading him within the NFC unless the return was huge. And I don't think the Bucs have the pieces to make it happen.

I think the Eagles will take the best return and not care who it comes from. Tampa has already once paid an absurd amount for a coach, and pairing Mariota with Chip would be a huge jolt to a totally apathetic fanbase (Packer fans outnumbered Bucs fans 3-1 in Tampa a few weeks ago). Bucs owners should have a lot of motivation to get it done.

Kelly isn't going anywhere.

Eagles' announcement: Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie today announced a new structural change for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Howie Roseman will be elevated to the role of Executive Vice President of Football Operations and will continue directing contract negotiations, salary cap management, and NFL strategic matters, while overseeing the team’s medical staff, equipment staff and more.
Head coach Chip Kelly will now oversee the player personnel department. He will also lead efforts to hire a new personnel executive – a process that will begin immediately.
“We are a good football team and we believe these steps will help make us a great team," said Lurie. "That step - from good to great - is the most difficult one for any organization to make. To do that, sometimes you have to step back and really look hard at where you are today and what you want to become."
Roseman has been with the Eagles for 16 years in a variety of roles - as general manager since 2010.
“Philadelphia is my home and the Eagles are my family. My number one goal is to help bring a championship to this city and that will never change," said Roseman. "I believe this will solidify the trust we have all placed in Coach Kelly."
Kelly, who was hired as the Eagles head coach in 2013, has had two ten-win seasons.
“I am very confident about where we are headed as a team and as an organization. I look forward to continue working with Jeffrey and Howie as well as the personnel department," said Kelly.
“This is not a one-man operation,” added Kelly. “It will truly take a team effort to acquire and develop the best football players and then put the best team on the field each week. It will take all of us working together."

The NFL is getting closer to returning to Los Angeles.

http://mmqb.si.com/2015/01/05/nfl-lo...ard-weekend/3/

Major news in the NFL-returns-to-L.A. saga early Monday morning. The Los Angeles Times reports that Rams owner Stan Kroenke is planning to build an NFL stadium in Inglewood. Kroenke is teaming up with Stockbridge Capital Group, which owns the 238-acre Hollywood Park site, to build an 80,000-seat stadium and a 6,000-seat performance venue as part of a major retail-office-residential development, which is being dubbed the City of Champions Revitalization Project.

News of the development will put pressure on the city of St. Louis, which owns the outdated Edward Jones Dome. The Rams can convert their lease there to year-to-year next month and leave as early as the end of the 2015 season.

The report also says, "League investigators did not contact any of the police officers who investigated the incident, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, or the Revel to attempt to obtain or view the in-elevator video or to obtain other information."
I think we all knew this, but proof the NFL was just trying to sweep it under the rug and forget about it.

Big loss for the Steelers

Quote:
Dick LeBeau, the architect of the defenses that were the driving force behind the Pittsburgh Steelers' three Super Bowl appearances from 2005-10, won't return in 2015.

LeBeau, 77, has resigned after spending 56 seasons in the NFL as a player and a coach and the last 11 as the Steelers' defensive coordinator.

Rex Ryan looks to be moving to Buffalo. Guess Buffalo doesn't want to win for another decade.

in hindsight, i think if Peyton would have went to the 49ers 3 years ago, he would have won his 2nd ring.. he went where the best offensive weapons were, should have went where the defense was... again easy to say in hindsight.
