Like Girly said, the entire system is setup so that NBC gets the best games each week. It doesn't always work out that way, especially before the flex scheduling kicks in, but having the ability to attempt to have each weeks marquee matchup was part of the TV deal.

Von Miller had surgery to repair torn ligaments in his thumb and may miss the game this week at Minnesota.
I'm thinking he won't.

Considering the amount of money ESPN is paying, you'd think they would have more say in getting the better games each week. I was just reading some of the NBC deal, wow, they did a great job with that negotiating.
I think Seattle will at least cover the spread tonight if not win. Even with Rice now on the IR, if Lynch can get going at all they should be alright. Philly in turmoil, coach on hot seat, short week, and too many injuries.
Oh and Jax gets yet another night game in a couple weeks, with a Thursday nighter this time. If there are any true Jax fans, at least they have one thing to be happy about this year with 3 primetime games.

There's a chapter in the ESPN tell-all book about how ESPN screwed up that negotiation for Sunday night. Remember Monday night was on ABC and Sunday night was on ESPN for years. They played hardball with the NFL thinking that there would be no other bidders. CBS was once in the running for Sunday night but they couldn't negotiate the pre-game (NFL primetime type) highlight show around 60 minutes. ESPN never ever thought NBC would come back, even when they were told, they scoffed at it.
Once NBC won, ESPN had to decide which crew would do Monday night. They actually told Madden that they had not decided whether to use him or the Sunday night crew of Patrick/Theismann/McGuire for Monday nights in which Madden quickly told them to F-off and went to NBC. Then they traded Al Michaels to NBC for a rabbit.
It really was a mess.

Vikings release McNabb.

Will any of the teams desparate for a starting QB upgrade bite? He is a Chicago guy.

Just listening to ESPN radio and SVP and Mike Wilbon both think he'll go to Chicago. They would have waiver priority over Houston.
Dallas also put in a waiver claim for Orton, so maybe they're desperate to upgrade their back up from Kitna and will take a flier on McNabb.
I think McNabb is done and will not offer any value to anyteam. However I would not bet against him in another jersey this year.

The NFL Network's version of NFL Prime Time, Game Day Final or something, sucks. It isn't on till after the Sunday night game. Then they start off with a 10 minute recap of the game most of us have just watched. Then instead of going through each match up. They go through a few match ups, then repeat those match ups before they recap some of the other games. It's brutal in comparison to what ESPN used to do. How I miss those days.

Yowzer and yikes....Rolondo McClain in a lot of trouble?
Quote:
After he was given permission to go home to Decatur for the funeral of his grandfather, McClain, the No. 8 overall pick of the 2010 draft, was arrested on firearms, assault and other charges after being involved in a fight Wednesday night.
Lt. John Crouch of the Decatur Police Department released a statement Thursday saying McClain allegedly fired a gun beside a man's head. The statement says the man begged McClain not to shoot him.

Another factor at this point could be trying to block this player from going to a competitor. Dallas is still theoretically in a playoff battle with a team like Chicago. Even if you think Dallas will win their Division, they still potentially face a team like Chicago in the playoffs. So spend a few bucks to make sure this guy doens't get a chance to send you home a few weeks down the road.
