It reminds me of Darryl Sutter's trades in his last months as GM. But this is worse.

It's one thing to be vocal in the room but nobody really takes anything you say seriously, but to have another leader in Myers say that Miller held a lot of weight, it seems like their teammates respected what Miller had to say. It's feeling like the majority of the players were Miller guys.

It’s no good if v=ng is on page 2.

It is weird to me then that Pettersson told management that he wants to stay.

I got that notion too when I read somewhere that Miller was the organizer of all the team events, all the players went to his house, etc.

Anyway, I will be surprised if they can pull themselves out of this nosedive. I mean, they had a lot of players hurt and they are still hanging around, so they aren't awful. Heck, maybe they even get it together enough to edge Calgary (or more likely, LA) out of a playoff spot. I don't have them making any noise. Demko is not Demko. Pettersson is not himself either. Hronek may take a while to get back to full-speed. Hughes has been getting hurt. Rift in the locker room...

It is becoming more and more likely to me that this era of the Canucks is coming to a close. Maybe a bit premature, but if I am Hughes, I am leaving to go play with my brothers when I turn UFA. Maybe if the Canucks were doing well and were a good, close-knit team. However, I am not sticking around for either a rebuild or a mushy-middle type of team that doesn't even really get along and suddenly is showing big holes in their lineup. If I am Boeser, I am leaving to go to the Wild.

Different set of circumstances, but they are blowing up like Calgary blew up - quickly. That core didn't last long at all. Still premature to say that they are blowing up I guess, but it sure feels like it.

I agree. We’ve all been somewhat negligent giving Vancouver Canucks the ridicule they richly deserve.

We took a moment of silence to feel sorry for the buggers. Now we can resume business.

I'm seeing this differently, to me Miller seems a bit of a bully. A number of players saying how much weight he held in the room, bullies do that by quitening any other voices.

A good leader in the room doesn't just use strong arm tactics to get the best out of people, they adapt to that persons particular requirments. Some respond to being shouted at, some need a quiet word away from everyone else.

Seems to me Miller had one style, the weaker players fell in line, whilst others didn't, causing the riff. Those that followed Miller don't have him to stand behind, so lash out at those that didn't.

On one hand, I would cry.

On the other hand, the memes.

On the note of the issues, it is sounding more and more like Petterson V Miller was no longer the issue and apparently it had become Miller V Coaching staff. I don't actually know anything about how the players and coaches get along so this one is a surprise to me.

I agree with your general sentiment, but to be more progressive I'd argue it is not 'weak' to not be outspoken or confrontational in the workplace. JT Miller does strike me as the type to be outspoken and it shows on the ice when he slams his stick in his little tantrums.

I don't know if Pettersson is a good match for a Tocchet coached team so it certainly wouldn't be surprising.

Wasn't sure where else to post this!

Can anyone provide a link to that clip where Backlund hammers the glass in front of a hipster Canuck fan after scoring a goal?

I just bought tickets, in a very similar seating position, to the Van-Cgy game in March and will be attending with a Canuck fan.

I can't find it anywhere!
