Like that Shaman Qnon guy, did Trump tell him to dress like that for months leading up to this? And now he wants to testify against Trump and complaining about not getting organic food in prison.
If I tell my previously abused drunken criminal foster son with an extensive history of violence the old guy across the road is a pedophile with a large pile of gold under his mattress knowing full well what he will do, if I then compound that by doing nothing to stop him when he leaves the house with a baseball bat, dont call 911, dont shout at the kid 'I'm calling the cops' then I am just as responsible for the violence as my kid, if I lied about the old guy in the first place as Trump did I am even more responsible.

No, the whole point of that day was it was the point at which it had all been resolved, there was no question at all anymore

Why wasn't there better security there considering everything that had happened up to that point and how polarized everything was still from the campaign.

Trump has said and tweeted a lot of things and there absolutely should have been better security, it's really surprising to me to be honest even inside the capital building. I get the US is a free country but this almost seems like a case of being tone deaf and not reading the room so to say.
So you are in agreement that Trumps words got people to the point of insurrection, it should have been obvious to everyone, and something should have been done about it?

Spent 90 minutes watching the impeachment trial this morning. The Democrats are doing a great job and are presenting a strong (yet futile) case. I think there is little chance there is a conviction.

I don't believe there is any chance for a conviction, but I also think the current devastating rehearsal of evidence for the Democrat's case is very important. I saw someone on the news last night suggesting that while the case may not result in swaying Senate opinions, it realistically could have a detrimental effect on Trump's own public approval rating, and effectively make it impossible for him to win another federal election.

For me, I think it is important for posterity. This record is permanent, and future generations will have this to reflect on in the evaluations of the past and plans for the future. That's important.

Nikki Haley breaks with Trump: 'We shouldn't have followed him'

“We need to acknowledge he let us down,” Haley, who served in her ambassador role under Trump, said. “He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him. And we can’t let that ever happen again.”

After helping to enable him for four years, now, when he's no longer in power, she denounces him. Truly a profile in courage.

She is rumoured to have presidential ambitions, so will be competing with Trump for the Republican nomination for 2024.

Imagine the Republican party putting forward a female presidential candidate. Though maybe they would be more likely if it was a Harris v Haley ticket.

The President who actively tweeted live television events had no idea the capital was being breached.

Are these people under oath right now? It should be perjury to obviously lie in this venue.

Sure you can. Trump spent 2 months radicalising his base of supporters with lies about a rigged and stolen election. Then he goes and holds a huge rally on the same day the Capital was going to certify the votes.

He stokes the fire within his base of supporters with his speech that morning telling them to go march to the Capital. You'd have to be a complete moron not to realise that his words that morning were going to cause violence and mayhem.

When he finally gives a twitter speech to his followers, he praises them for their efforts and tells them to go home.

Only a dreanged person would hold a rally on the day of the vote. He knew what he was doing.

Especially walking distance from where the vote was happening.
