We see you have been raped and abused in the past. The government would like to enable corporations to continue that trend. Enjoy!

When Lindsay Graham is a voice of reason something is wrong...
This is just a congress desparate to make it look like they are doing something. The Senate will end up having to change this bill so that is unrecognizable to Congress. At that point congress will then kill it.
They may go with reconciliation but they still need the majority support in the senate and I don't think there is any way they have that. I would be shocked if the Senate looked at this before the CBO scores it.
This could be "fun" because when people see it and start to understand it, it is going to be wildly unpopular.

AHCA is likely going to be passed. Trillion dollars in cuts including Medicaid and only a $billion back. They are trying to ram it through before the CBO has a chance to finish their ramifications on the changes.

It's gonna take years to repair the damage that Trump and the GOP are currently doing to that country, and they haven't even been in power for a full year yet.
I have quite a few American friends and family who live down there, and none of them voted for this crap. They're all horrified with everything that's happening, and at least a couple of them are seriously looking at the possibility of moving to a more enlightened country before things get worse. I think most of them will likely wait and see how the next three years play out first before making that decision. But if Trump is re-elected in 2020, I think you're gonna see a massive influx of Americans running for the Canadian border.
One of my buddies is a doctor in Portland, and he tells me that the entire medical community is fiercely opposed to the GOP's health plan (not surprising), and he's very worried about the effect it's going to have on many of his patients should it pass through the Senate. He's about as pissed off right now as I've ever seen him, and he's usually a pretty quiet and mild-mannered dude.

At this point, do we consider the US a plutocracy or a kleptocracy?

One country's brain drain will be another country's gain.
If the Trump administration persists (which I don't think it will past 2020) means the possibility increases of US-based firms (tech, engineering, science, etc.) will want to expand operations outside the US or move entirely if the business and social climate gets too rocky.
Doesn't necessarily mean Canada's gain though. I could see emerging countries benefiting the most based on quality/cost of living, improved technical and telecommunication networks, etc.

Don't worry guys, reasonable, enlightened discourse with these people should save the day any minute now.

He is being poisoned. Poisoned by liberalism, and centrism, and regular conservatism. Only the alt-right can save him. God bless.

I thinking that as well, but then again US government websites were being used to advertised Mar-A-Lago, so It probably should have flipped at that point.

I mean, if nothing else, at least the GOP is consistent in their "F##K Women!" platform.

Doesn't this basically have zero hope of getting through the senate, though? I understood it to be totally DOA...

I wish there was a way to shield Democrat voters from this. But there isn't, and unfortunately I think a lot of people will have to die before the point is made.
The political move would be to NOT filibuster in the Senate, and let the Republicans just own the health care outcomes. I think it'd be crappy and people will die, but if they filibuster, the whole "Democrats are obstructing" narrative takes the center stage.
