I hope Disney sues the Oilers for blatantly stealing the Disney+ idea and the logo too.
Would be hilarious to see that blow up in their faces. And if any company has the muscle to do so, its The Mouse.

Only 8 years , "a little better" wtaf , I get hockey players are placed on a pedestal from a young age but 8 ####ing years and now your starting to get it ?
All those trips to the childrens hospital that Flames players do surely get mimicked in Dedmonton no? Do they just go and have no idea why they are there
No clue as to how it is supposed to enrichen the lives of the kids and the players themselves E=NG indeed

Baby steps. He just started dressing himself in year 5, feeding himself in year 6, and tying his skates last year.

I don’t see the penalty on that play where McDavid got hurt…. He went to put the stick in front of McDavid and then quickly moved it and never touched him.

He honestly didn’t even hit it that hard. That play happens all the time. Can’t wait for the 6 part mini series on how he came back from that on Oilers +

I think he was winded. I don't think he was faking, but it also shouldn't have been a penalty.

Same as Rasmus Anderson penalty where a falling dman waved a stick near Mavi and it was a penalty? Of course neither were. Hypocrisy, thy name is nhl refereeing.

I know it was a stretch, but I thought it would be fun to call it a relegation.

Pretty close. (I'm studying that period for a game design, so my memory is a bit fresher.)
***BORING OLD-TIMEY STORY ALERT***
It was the Toronto Blueshirts whose owner, Eddie Livingstone, nobody liked. In November, 1917, the other NHA owners started a new league (the NHL) to freeze him out. They went so far as to give a new Toronto franchise to the owners of the Arena Gardens, along with all the Blueshirts' players.
The Wanderers were owned by Sam Lichtenhein, who hated Livingstone with the heat of a thousand burning suns, and he orchestrated the whole deal. But his team was bleeding red ink and had lost most of its good players to the army for the duration of World War I. Less than two months after the new league was formed, the Wanderers' arena burned to the ground and Lichtenhein folded the team. So much for winning.
The official reason for kicking Livingstone out of the league was that for scheduling purposes, they did not want an odd number of teams. With the Wanderers out, the new league was left with just three teams – not only an odd number, but the very smallest number they could have and still get away with calling themselves a league. The NHL owners beat Livingstone, but they just about killed their own business to do it.
Of course, the new league had no right to assign the Blueshirts' player contracts to a new franchise, so Livingstone sued the new Toronto team and won. To escape paying damages, the team filed for bankruptcy and folded partway through the 1918-19 season. The NHL finished that season with just two teams, Ottawa and Montreal. Then they started up yet another Toronto franchise, which eventually became the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Whenever I hear about owners screwing each other or their players, or indulging in shady business practices, I just shrug. It's always been that way. The NHL could teach the Mafia a thing or two.
To bring it back on topic: Edmonton is No Good, but they sure didn't invent No Goodness. It's been around the NHL for over a century.

What’s funny is that 90% of Oilers fans are exactly as she depicts. It’s no exaggeration at all.

Not. At. All.
There was a video posted by TSN on YouTube a few weeks back exploring some of the "most interesting teams" heading into the 2022 season, which, of course Calgary qualified but the Oilers did not. The first comment in the video was completely unsurprising:
"Hhhuuuurr-Duuuuurrrrhhh. How is Calgary more interesting than Edmonton??!! They won the BOA last year!!!"

Actually, with all the players (NHL and elsewhere) imitating his brother's photos, I'd say Brandon Tanev is the face of the game.

If I'm marketing the NHL, I would hold onto Crosby as "the face of the game" as long as possible until Bedard or someone else comes along with....
- presence
- gravitas
- a leader that people want to actually follow
- kindness except between whistles
- non-homeless looking
- doesn't stare down teammates
- has a crib that people actually envy
- does community service away from the camera
Like an actual role model.
