St. Louis Blues radio talking heads proposed
Tkachuk for Tarasenko, Kyrou or Thomas, Perunovich and 1st
That would be amazing. Taking the Kryou option hands you the first and third line RW. Perunovich makes it possible to move Valimaki in an Eichel trade. The St. Louis first is probably better than the Flames, so moving the Flames first unprotected won't really hurt (as we won't' win the lottery).
Follow this up with Monahan, Valimaki and unprotected Flames first to Buffalo. Everyone is happy.

No, not at all.
That Tkachuk trade is quality for quantity, the exact opposite of what we should be aiming for. The top end of the roster should be added to - specifically at the centre position.
St. Louis has very little of interest when it comes to Tkachuk being dealt. If the Flames were rebuilding, sure go nuts and grab two 1st round picks +, but the Flames are not rebuilding and moving Tkachuk for a bunch of spare parts is lunacy. Tkachuk is the best player in that trade and it’s not even remotely close.

It’s better than Phaneuf for Stajan, White, Mayers and Hagman, but not by much.

Flames landing Eichel and then trading Tkachuk to St.Louis for the speculative package by the blues talking heads would literally be the completion to a dream off-season. I totally get the trepidation and unwillingness to see the future mortgaged in an Eichel trade but to turn around and deal Tkachuk and regain some of those futures would be unreal. Fingers are firmly crossed and I’ve knocked on wood until my knuckles have hurt… please make a big splash and go all in just this once Calgary it is time for this to happen.
Whats the point of going all in on Eichel then hedging by trading Tkachuk? Isn't the whole point of going all in on Eichel to go all in? Land Eichel and keep Tkachuk unless you can move Tkachuk for another big piece. No thanks to watering down our best asset in Tkachuk for a bunch of average pieces.

Don't worry everyone, we are willing this into existence.
And to push things over the edge:
I made a similar stupid video for Jagr (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iL5trRmqXqs) prior to him signing with the Flames, so obviously it was a significant difference maker.

I think if you get eichel, you wait till next offseason to consider moving tkachuk. At least go for it with possibly having a loaded team for a playoff run. Next offseason some hard decisions will have to be made anyways… at least use the one year to of cap room to have a team with Gaudreau, tkachuk, Lindholm, eichel, and mangiapane.

Acquiring Eichel and then flipping Tkachuk in a trade that makes your team worse today is not “going all in”.
Acquire Eichel. Keep Tkachuk, Lindholm, Gaudreau, and Mangiapane.

To each their own and if we ended up holding onto Tkachuk I wouldn’t be complaining seeing him in our top 6; but everything I’ve read about Tarasenko is that he is ready to go and I think Kyrou and his right hand shot and ability to play Center is something that’s being understated here and of course this also nets us what would most likely be our top prospect and a 1st rounder that has a good chance of being better than the one we give up in an Eichel trade.
Pretty great top 6 as well with the bottom 6 looking like
Pelletier - Backlund - Kyrou
Lucic - Lewis - Pitlick
That 3rd line could be deadly with Backlund having experience skating with young players. The gamble is the health of Tarasenko and Eichel and I believe the gamble is worthy one at this point for both, that said again if it ended up being the scenario you presented and just a splash for Eichel I’d be more than content and happy this fanbase and team is afforded the chance to have a talent like Jack Eichel, it’s more than overdue.
I think its pretty risky to trade a ton of assets for one medically uncertain player, let alone two...
Eichel ought to be the top priority, if you can get a reasonable deal (ie Buffalo moving off their current ask) and have confidence in the surgical prospects.
Tarasenko is also a big risk due to his shoulder.
I cannot see Calgary rolling the dice on two unknowns...just doesn't seem to be something this franchise would be willing to stomach
