Congrats to both the Ravens and the Cards. Two exciting teams usually on different sides of the ball although the Cardinal's D looked nice last night for sure.

From what I've seen so far, if Brady was healthy, the Pats would be sizing up rings again right about now. No one has impressed me all that much in the playoffs yet - maybe the Giants and Steelers will today.

c) 6th seeded Philly has a better record than Arizona; so, in a fair world, Arizona would play the better seeded Giants in the second round.
The whining is because of a faulty playoff system. Just because Arizona is playing well, doesn't mean the system ain't broke.

All this is irrelevant because the games are played around the system in place.
Arizona was 7-3 going into their game against the Giants. At that point they had yet to clinch their division (although it was almost a certainty at that point). They played the Giants tough and lost by a touchdown. The 49ers ended up losing that day to officially clinch Arizona the division.
The remainder of the season (until the last week) the Cardinals were a completely different team. They had their playoff spot, they had their home playoff game, and that inexperience showed. All the teams that blew them out were still fighting for their playoff lives and it showed.
If the system is different a different Cardinals team shows up in the last 5 weeks of the season.

Any "Fringe" fans catch the Observer watching the game early in the first quarter? I thought that was pretty clever.

This game is going to be the death of me. I keep thinking how good the Eagles would be if they had just one very good receiver. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's been a crime the way the front office has refused to surround Donovan with playmakers on offense.

God I hate Mike Carey. He's a great official but he has serious hate for the Eagles. No way that flag should've been picked up. Everytime he's officiating the Eagles game I knwo they have an uphill battle.

Woohoo! E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES! Great game by the defense today. Hopefully they can keep the momentum going against a tough Arizona team next week. Anybody still doubting that McNabb will be back next year?

Eli Manning is overrated. The guy looks great when he's got a big tall receiver in Plaxico Burress to snag those knuckleballs but take him out of the equation and he's awful.

Another Eagles fan here Rube...
It was a pretty shaky game to start and I was a little worried with those whopping 34 yds in the first half but the defense was awesome. It helps that manning was throwing ducks up out there. But the defense played really well.
We should stack up well against the cards. As long as we can get pressure on Warner (with no running game we should be able to) we can shut down their vaunted passing attack.
If you had told me we would be here after the Cincy tie????????????????

Well, Carolina has a pretty good defense too, and they couldn't shut it down. I wouldn't be too confident.
I think the important thing for the Eagles will be to control time of possession and not turn the ball over. (that one's a little obvious I guess)

Wow!
The NFC looked to be the better conference all year long and are now stuck with Arizona vs. Philly in the championship game.
Weird, weird play-offs this year.
I guess with no great teams this year the lesser teams are able to get lucky and beat the better teams a lot easier.
Surprised the Giants came out as unready as they did. They seemed to be the one team that would be immune to putting up a stinker in the play-offs. First, Indy, then Tennessee, then Carolina and now the Giants, all 4 teams that didn't make mistakes to beat themselves all year long and in their first play-offs games they all end up beating themselves with stupid mistakes.

I could be dead wrong on this Chargers/Steelers game. It could be a 30-27 game, not the low scoring game I thought it would be.

Eagles! Eagles!
The Minnesota game was a lot closer than the score indicated. Against the Giants, the Eagles were clearly the better team. The defense is coming up huge, especially on 3rd and 4th down. Helps when the passing attack is non-existent, and the safeties can blitz. Asante Samuel is great at being at the right place at the right time.
Offensively, they do just enough. McNabb is great at 3rd and long. Akers is back in his automatic groove. Westbrook, in a matter of two years, went from the most underrated player to the most overrated.

I wouldn't say that. The guy hasn't been healthy all year and I think that's prevented Reid from being as creative as he usually is. Andrews being out hurt a lot too.

Just a quick note on McNabb. There has been seven seasons since McNabb became the full time starter in Philly where he hasn't ended up on IR and has been able to finish the season. He's now made the NFC Championship in five of those seven seasons and has at least one playoff victory in six of those seasons. The only year in which they did not make the NFC Championship was McNabb's first full year as starter.
