CI,
Lost in all of this is my opportunity to gloat about ASU hanging a third consecutive "L" on desert snore.
And the end of the day, nobody really deserves a NC bid. All of the NC contenders are not real contenders so the actual NC this year is almost dead to me. Anyways, who cares, bring on the best time of the year ... bowl season.

 - Congrats on the win. I was actually pleasantly surprised with the Cats yesterday. They really turned a corner the second half of the season and gave some very good teams a beating (Oregon) or at least a tight game (ASU).
In the end, Im happy for ASU - I hope they represent the Pac-10 well in whichever bowl they get selected for.

ya, I like that QB at AU. I suspect ASU will be in the Holiday Bowl.
There will be too much pressure for the Fiesta to take a one loss Kansas team or maybe WVA. I can't say with a straight face that ASU deserves a BCS bid over those 2 teams.

No, the LSU hype sounds like the talk about how good OSU was. And how Michigan would kill USC in the Rose Bowl. No actual facts to back the point - only "just because".
What I'm talking about is the rational talk that said Florida was good enough to have a chance.

The Fiesta Bowl is ASU's only shot at a BCS Bowl.
There's no way Illinois deserves to be in the Rose Bowl, but it's almost inevitable that they will.

Here's a good article I found a few minutes ago ... a good summary of the decisions that need to be made.

The Sugar Bowl gets the first selection for At-Large teams.
" When two bowls lose host teams, then the bowl losing the number one team may not select a replacement team from the same Conference as the number two team, unless the bowl losing the number two team consents."
There's no way the Sugar doesn't select Georgia.
Even if the Rose Bowl had the first pick they'd still probably choose Illinois for the Pac-10/Big-10 match-up. I've read that the Rose Bowl officials have basically told the Big-10 that Illinois is their team.

The Rose Bowl gets the first choice because OSU will be first in the BCS standings. They can't take Georgia but they still get the first choice.

Why would Sugar automatically get the first pick? wouldn't it depend on who is number one? If so, my guess is OSU will be #1, giving the Rose the first pick. If that is in fact a rule.

I worded my post wrong.
The Rose Bowl gets the first pick, but not the first shot at Georgia who is undoubtedly the best at-large team and will get scooped up by any bowl who has the opportunity to take them.

Looks like it's OSU v. LSU in the BCS championship.
Ohio State and LSU were ranked #1, #2 in both the coaches and AP polls. The BCS is expected to follow suit.
Since the BCS game is played in New Orleans, it's going to be essentially a home game for LSU.

It's a good thing I'm playing Mario Galaxy while watching this because they're really milking the selections...
