It is a decent return, but I think a lot of people are blindsided by the names and packages being thrown about in the speculation thread.

Its why Vegas needed to also give up a second.

Sounds like a rebiggle type trade

Interesting that Wiebe is a teammate of Reschny in NoDak, so they've likely seen a lot of him this year.

They won’t win the cup, so that condition is useless.
Whitecloud is aged out of our core years already, he’s 29 and meh.
Weibe is a 7th round pick, must have needed to drop a contract because that’s a very odd throw in.
So essentially Rasmus for a very late 1st.
|
You're ignoring the 2nd round pick in that evaluation.

Hopefully Conroy makes up for it with a Coleman and Kadri trade.

So the best they could do is a 7th round draft pick? He better be the next Wolf, otherwise we are putting lipstick on a pig

The Vegas pick this year was always going to be 25th or worse. They are a strong team and are contender with or without Rasmus. Are we really quibbling over losing a couple places late in the first round over potentially gaining 32 spots in 28 if the win the cup this year?
Go Vegas go!

You cannot convince me they would not have gotten a better return during the deadline last yr or at the draft. And conroy will do this again with coleman again next yr. We just never learn and its so frustrating to be a fan of this team

Lol comments online at other places. Flames are the farm system for Vegas and Florida.

I can only speak for myself, but I really hoped an extension would be part of the deal. So yeah, disappointed. And that's before you factor in that it's ####ing Vegas again.
No C prospect coming back either. Not exactly overwhelming.

It seems like this was the most likely outcome and all the extra work Conny did with the bidding war squeezed Whitecloud out of them as an extra add.

Hate that he went to Vegas, and certainly feels like conroy got played a bit, but the return is really good and I don’t see how they would have gotten this much if they traded him in the offseason.

Have to believe at least one other team would have traded their first round pick for Andersson. A 1st + 3rd for Andersson from another team would have likely been better than a 1st + 2nd from Vegas that worsens the 2026 1st they likely have from Vegas. They are pretty much hedging their bet with Vegas:
If Vegas goes on a great run and wins the cup, they’ll hope they will crash in 2027 and 2028. If Vegas struggles this year, they’ll hope they are really bad in 2027.
