Personally I thought that despite the nervous start the Flames played a decent game.
  • Tanev was missed, but he’s clearly hurt, and he’s struggling with his shoulder
  • I’m glad Lindholm scored, and the PP looked good
  • The breakouts are getting better, so is the defensive coverage
  • No lead is safe with Smith in goal
  • Mental mistakes are what’s beating the Flames at the moment
  • It would’ve been an awesome comeback win, but we came up short
  • Need to win 3 straight, so we have to do it one game at a time
  • I hope Markstrom has gotten all the bad goals out of the way, because we need the Vezina caliber goalie

Nothing if you win the series. He’s got some kind of mental block against the Oilers and it was that way all season.

I can't even comment on liking our chances or anything like that, as it all comes down to Markstrom. If this is what we get from him going forward then we do not win 3 games straight under any circumstances.

If he can suddenly rebound and play like the Dallas series than I actually could see us winning three straight.

Tough losing when you actually keep McDavid somewhat in check.

Hopefully that goal completely derails Smith the rest of the way.

I don’t think this series is over. Having 60% Tanev back was a positive for sure… he played McDavid well all night. He took a lot of hits and was obviously targeted. Here’s hoping it doesn’t lead to a setback.

Down to .850 for the series now. 19 goals against on 12 expected goals against for Markstrom.

Don’t care how the team is playing in front of him, you’re not going to beat anyone with that type of goaltending performance
I stayed away from the threads today hoping to calm a bit and maybe for some better juju. Sad it didn't work.

Markstrom has been the worse goalie in every game this series. I always thought Sutters great skill was recognizing who was playing well and leaning on them. This has not been the case with Markstrom who has been downright terrible, and completely outclassed all post season.

They weren't the guys driving the play on the goals they got assists on. They were contained well. Huge gaffes by goalie and defence when the otherined were out is what hurt the Flames tonight.

The double minor for blood is the stupidest rule in the entire NHL playbook. You can smash your stick across someone’s visor for a solid two minute minor but catch the blade of the stick on the ol nose and that’s 4! That is a massssssive game changing sort of call that makes almost no sense. Anyways what an annoying game.

Yup. Flames finally played him well, and still lost.

Oilers are just a better team. Their doing whatever it takes to get wins.

This two will have been our downfall if we lose this series.
Sutter appears to be a master psychologist, but not necessarily a master strategist. He didn't figure out a way to collapse the Stars inane low event hockey strategy, and he hasn't made a single useful adjustment this series.

Were sitting on the patio watching the game after Mens League golf and my golf pro decided it would be okay to wear an Oilers jersey. Looks like he got the last laugh on us.

Second goal, Tanev had a bum shoulder so couldn't box out.

Third goal, deflection.

Fourth goal, fake pass to a wide open net + Kylington not boxing out.

I thought outside of the first goal Markstrom wasn't that bad... in fact maybe even above-average. He made timely saves.

I honestly believe we'll either win the next 3 to advance, or we'll come out with our worst effort yet and lose on Thursday.

There's no in-between with this team it feels like.

PP assist and an EN assist for McDavid, he certainly didn't dominate like he usually does... against all teams. Some people pretend it's just the Flames. McDavid wins the scoring race every season...not all against the Flames.
