Maybe don't post the codes on the thread. We don't want dirty Oiler fans getting them. Might be worth seeing if people would allow PMs for them if they have the code.

Yeah, our offense is going to have it much easier this series. Defense is going to have to be much more on their toes to limit chances.

I'm curious to see the predictions from the hockey media. I assume they're all gonna pick the Oilers to win because McDavid. I'm guessing any one of them who actually picks the Flames runs the risk of being shunned by the rest of the hockey broadcasting community, fired from their job, or possibly even murdered in their sleep by an unknown assailant.

I’m happy we’re in it but I’m going to need a day here to get over last series. That game last night was a real emotional ride for me.

Did anyone catch Looch scoffing and saying, "Friends?!" when Ryan Leslie interviewed him post game last night, asking what he thought about facing his friends in the Battle of Alberta?
It seemed to annoy Looch lol and maybe enough to have him try to prove to Leslie and fans that he is not friends with the Oilers.

The Oilers vs. the Kings was a largely uncoordinated group with a couple of elite players, a hot goalie, and a scumbag on a scoring streak against a group without any stars but playing as a team. The group without stars but playing as a team dominated the uncoordinated group for a lot of that series. The superstars ended up being the difference, but not by much.
Oilers fans have an awful lot of hope pinned on three guys in what is a true team sport. The NHL is not the NBA.

Flames are the better team, but...
Connor McDavid
REFEREES
Flames overcame Ottinger in round 1, hopefully they can beat the obstacles in round 2

Oilers barely made it past LA. Take what LA did, add some Sutter magic and more talent and GO FLAMES GO.

The season series was dead even with a slight edge to the Flames in GF. No Tanev = Flames in 7

Yeah, the Flames are playing a great team game, are now battle-tested, and come with two 100+ point stars, three 40+ goal scorers, a vezina-nominated goalie, and a twice cup winning coach. Playing the Flames will not be like playing the Kings.

I can't even bring myself to vote. Last series I picked Dallas in 4 just as a joke and as an FU to the hockey gods. But I can't in good conscience do the same this time. Then again, my fake pick in R1 worked. Do I continue the trend and once again go for the troll pick?

True, but one Dallas player came to within an inch of stealing an entire series, and McDingus single-handedly took his team to round 2. So it does happen occasionally. However, I take a lot of comfort in the fact that those instances are extremely rare in hockey.
In McDavid's case, he was playing against a young, inexperienced, rebuilding team missing two of their best players. The Flames are deeper, faster, and more skilled than the Kings. And they currently have the best goalie still in the playoffs. I like their chances. As mentioned earlier in the thread, the only wildcard is injures. If Tanev is out long term, that could be costly. Good news is that the Flames did pretty good without him last night, so we know they can probably push through it.

With no ATL post yet, I decided to don a Level A suit and venture in to HFBoards to see what Oiler fans think of a BoA. It's funny how many of them are dreading the broadcasts because they think it will be a Flames love-in, as if they aren't the media darlings. I mean sure, a lot of hockey fans hate the Oilers, but a big part of that is because of the media hype and how the league pushes McDavid and Draisaitl.

I only pick the coilers bc our defence is considerably weaker without Tanev and I'm not sure we can keep pace with their offence. I know Pissy is hurting too but at least he's able to dress and he's probably just being a big baby about his ankle. Then there's The Criminal, who it seems has no conscience whatsoever and has been able to put all his troubles behind him. You'd think there'd be some karma at some point but who knows than that might happen.
