It's pretty obvious who they think he is like. Look at their behind the net comments.

Hes not Gretzky but imo Johnny is the closest the league has to that player.

As promised, I fell asleep on the couch when it was 2-1 and had to catch up this morning.

Secondary scoring is starting to concern me. We need 88, 20 and 73 to be producing by the end of the month. Relying on Johnny hasn't worked well for the Flames in playoffs past...

I like Durzi. I like that LA team, well coached and play a tough, fast style. And I think they actually listen to the coach too. They will be a tough out in the playoffs and I wouldn't want to play them in the first couple of rounds.

Calgary gutted that one out and it was nice to see. Secondary scoring needs to step up but it is not like they are playing bad they are just not getting the good bounces at the moment. Coleman has been awesome. Love everything about his game.

Funny part about the reffing is that missed a tonne of penalties on top of the phantom ones they did call. Pretty ####ty game for them overall.

If the playoffs started today, I think the Kings would absolutely work Edmonton. Kopitar and Danault are going to eat the Oilers centers alive.

This win should go a long way in locking up the Pacific but would love to see Backlund as the 3rd line C with Coleman and Jarnkrok and either Ruzicka or Dube between Toffoli and Mangi.

Backlund has no chemistry with 73/88 and is holding that line back but would be incredible as the 3rd line C. Worth giving Ruzicka and Dube some extended looks with 73/88 and if either works the forward lines would really be lethal going into the playoffs.
From my vantage point it's Toffoli holding them back. He's closer to Coleman for puck handling skills.

I think that would be quite enjoyable to watch for me.

And more importantly, IMO, embellishment reviews with fines and suspensions. That is the only way to curb this disgusting new trend.

And where is ground central for this new wave of embellishment? Edmonton of course, where it has been cultivated into an actual game plan.

The one weakness in Backlunds game has always been his passing (dishing and receiving). He is not horrible, but he is not at the point where it's an advantage on the second scoring line. Last night was poor in this regard.

I'd rotate Jarnkrok, Dube and then Ruzicka (in that order), to see who can create chemistry with 88 and 73 before the playoffs. Backlund can be really effective in that third line spot, and Sutter can make in game calls to bump the whole line to second.

Missed the first and the third, but really enjoyed the second. All four lines seemed to have an identity.

Zadorov is playing like he played at the beginning of the season. Making bad pinches, losing his man in coverage, and generally looking a step behind the play. Hopefully he rebounds again as 44 has had to cover for him a lot lately and it feels like a lot of the high danger scoring chances against have been a result of his play.

Looks hurt to me. Not hitting or skating the puck.

The team lacks a puck distributor in the middle 6.

Backlund, Mangiapane, Coleman, Jarnkrok, Toffoli are all great 200ft players that tend to be volume shooters but I don’t see any of them as “playmakers”. Dube is more of a volume shooter than a playmaker too.

The top line is great but it has our two best puck distributors on the same line.

This is a great point. I feel like Backlund's skill set would be complementary to becoming a playmaker but he always is shoot first.
