Also being last minute of the second and first minute of the third.

Whatever speech the coach gave between periods was immediately and fully erased

62 shots. A couple of stats.

https://records.nhl.com/records/team...-team-one-game

Tied for 12th most shots (since 1959-60)
Highest shot total for a team since 1990-91

At this point, the conversation needs to be who the Flames can get to add to this team. This is really looking like the year to load up. If it's possible to get a guy like Joe Pavelski, they really should. Pushing the existing fourth-liners out of the lineup would be just one outcome to getting a guy like that.

Pavelski is precisely what the Flames need, IMO.
I agree a top 6 forward would be amazing and Pavelski would be great but I think it’s less about the energy line and more about a concerning lack of secondary scoring (notwithstanding the last week or so).

Your concern also seems to be with scoring on lines 2 & 3. Typically most teams need a checking energy line to grind down opposing teams and these types of players become even more important in the playoffs actually.

Line 4 isn’t really the big problem here although I agree it wouldn’t kill them to generate SOME offense every now and then. It’s just that they do the other things well especially, most important to me personally, demonstrating a very high work ethic. Often this can spill over to teammates.

I seem to recall Markstrom had to be terrific in the Pittsburg shutout early in the season, could have been a very close game or loss without his 40 plus saves in that one.

Maybe not stolen but I think the point is that his play had been a big factor in the teams ability to focus on transition to offense. He’s been so good this season minus a couple bad games, and the team can really play its style because of it

Somewhat incredibly, every player had positive corsi and shot differential tonight. Usually there’s at least one guy that gets dominated while the rest of the team does the work but it was all hands on deck tonight. I really don’t think there was a single fault tonight. The Flames played a perfect hockey game. Not just really good or excellent, perfect. Savour it, because I honestly think it will never happen again. I honestly wonder if it has ever even happened before.

Quick search, the Avs toasted LA last year 6-0 but Newhook kinda sucked. I’d have to have watched the game to say for sure.

The Flames would be well served to add another top six forward not just to strengthen their top end, but also to push one of those two guys out of the lineup.
Reluctantly agree here, and I like what Lewis especially brings to the pk and defensive zone. Honestly I’d be happy to add a top 9 forward in Dillon Dube as well. Not sure what’s up with him but he’s half the player that he’s capable of being right now

That's amazing, I'm getting to be an old fart, I used to watch that show as a kid in the mornings and loved it.

Just gotta say that I hate this Firefox bug with not being able to quote people for some ridiculous special characters or whatever. Is it a Firefox problem with this forum specific software (because I've never seen it anywhere else) or is it a Firefox issue? either way please fix it.

I don’t know. Giving up a goal on the Blues first shot was unforgivable.

The fourth line started chipping in a bit more in the third period, when the game was already all but decided, but man ... that's a laughable result from the first 40 minutes. The Flames are really, really, really good, but they still have some weak links.
Ruzicka is massively underrated on this board. I got beaked for agreeing with Pronman on his ability.

This guy can and will play at the NHL level. Philips not so much.

Stolen from Reddit:

"Tonight Calgary had 62 shots on goal in 60 minutes.

In the 2020 playoff 5 OT game, CBJ had 63 shots on goal in 150 minutes."
