People should watch Gaudreau and just Gaudreau for an entire shift. Crazy how lazy, disinterested and selfish he is.

At least Sutter is wearing a proper mask. I wasn’t sure what he was wearing for the first few games

I thought that was the third period. I don't know how to feel.

You aren’t wrong.

...and it goes to show just how awful Sean Monahan is that he’s the focus of most of our crap flinging. For as bad as Johnny has been, Monahan has been worse.

Those are the two players who have vanished year after year in the playoffs, yet we doubled and tripled down on building around them. This is what falling in love with your own players looks like from a management perspective.

I've been doing this all game. Picking a player and just watching them. Tkachuk is invisible, but makes a point of finishing checks. Johnny goes for the puck intitially, but if he doesn't get it, that's it. Dube is frustrated that the play dies when he passes to a teammate. Lucic has had a good game.

The difference in his play when he actually tries for a shift is pretty stark - he still can go when he wants.

I am one of those that believe that Monahan is playing injured. They should get him fixed up and ready for next season. Keeping him in there, playing at 70% and courting more injury is just stupid.

He’s playing with the two biggest plugs on the team I’d check out too. Most skilled guy but can’t carry a line he needs some help.

...remember when we could have traded Regehr for Spezza? Oh, those were the days.

Thing is, I’m not questioning Monahan’s effort or his attempt to play what Sutter is clearly asking. Something else is going on with him. With Gaudreau, it’s all about lack of effort. Which to me is a bigger black mark. I’m wondering if he’s pulling a “Carter in Columbus”.

They should trade Monahan and Tkachuk before they deal Gaudreau. Maybe try playing him with players who don't suck ass like Ritchie and/or Bennett and see what happens.

I’m genuinely curious what Sutter is up to

Is he tanking? Is he sending a strong message to the core? Does he just straight up hate the way Treliving built a team?

Because there is no way he actually thinks Ritchie/Monahan/Johnny is the answer

He’s a professional making over $6MM/year. This isn’t Peewee 6. He can try or sit out. Nobody cares about Gaudreau anymore. Or should. His legacy is lazy.

fyp.

This is the problem though - the Flames don’t have anyone good to play with Gaudreau at this stage...so may as well just bail on him as well.

They should call the bluff and healthy scratch him for the rest of the contract.

Yes I’m kidding, kinda. Need to send a message though dude is a gigantic prima donna.

Too much trust invested in the players the last few seasons, players should never be asked who they would prefer as a coach. This puts the idea of power in the players and they took full advantage. BT's approach of working from player feedback may have blurred the lines when it comes to, business and players coming to work.

Matt Stajan, obviously great guy, but he's got a good media personality just like Kesler. Sportsnet actually getting some good hockey players with personality it seems.
