Great player. He's been flying last night. And the bombs from the blue line? There's something to be said about hockey players playing their best games against their former club.

Looks like Gio isn't going to get credit for the secondaey assist on the goal that bounced off Komarov. Andersson never touched it but has it right now.

Every point is going to matter for the Norris and Gio is pacing to have the highest scoring 35 yo d-man season of ALL TIME, so I hope it gets changed.

Hathaway too.

Guy hasn't done it as often this season but when he wants to be he can be a real agitator.

Saw it for the first time this season last night and remembered..."Oh yeah he used to really piss people off".

Would love to know what Czarnik and the guy he was talking to were saying. That is a pretty big smile!

Hard not to like that guy...

Skip to the 54 second mark. Definitely a couple steamboats late.
It is not 2 steamboats late, even in slow motion.

Good hit, bad result.

Probably also hurt that his helmet/visor cut into his head.
All true, but still late.

What? I assuming you haven't been able to watch many Flames games this year? Hes been pissing teams off all season.

Such a fun game to watch yesterday and that too against a top defensive team.

Really liking the strides Andersson is taking this season. I can see him cement a Top 4 role as early as next season.

Last night felt like the first real major time though where he had multiple guys on the other team going after him.

He's always a little agitating but last night felt like the first time in a while he he somehow had a whole roster after him...similar to his run-ins with Phoenix (Domi) and San Jose (Thornton) back in his early call ups with the team.

Only part I didn't like is that he drove upwards. If his arms were tucked and he just hit Andersson it would have been nothing. I think Andersson not expecting it was a biggest factor here.

I was surprised Andersson wasn't sent for concussion protocol to be honest. They had multiple close ups of him both immediately after the hit and on the bench getting checked and he looked pretty out of it both times.

That said, I didn't think it was late in real time, and it's shoulder to shoulder, so it's fine to me. Sometimes you get hit hard and clean, and it hurts. I did find myself wondering what the use of the hit was, though. The puck was outside the blueline by the time Andersson was hit. I don't want hitting out of the game, but the thought of "why?" crossed my mind there.

The why is pretty straightforward: Clutterbuck is an a-hole. Always has been. His physical game can be an asset, but honestly I think he just likes to hurt people. He's always been a borderline head-hunter with his hitting style. The timing of that hit spoke volumes to me about his character. He was also possibly sending a message for the next game. Fine, but expect some nastiness in return the next time these teams meet.

It was a direct response to Hathaway doing the same thing to Boychuk moments earlier.

Yeah. I mean, it's certainly something that drives the entertainment of the game though. There aren't many (any?) sports that allow the kind of after the whistle type play that hockey does. It's part of the charm and, weirdly, fun of the game. But it doesn't happen unless people do borderline (or even line crossing) things like this.
