I think its one of the coolest sport stories of my life to be honest.

Expansion teams in any pro sport anywhere, never ever have this kind of first season. They have done it the right way to, and after what happened in that city 5 days before the first ever game raises the accomplishment even higher.

A cast-off coach with a bunch of guys with chips on their shoulders. All buying in for one another and just playing their game. It's awesome to see.

I'm a fan.
If you are talking sports and this lifetime, you can't omit Leicester City and what they did. Even if Knights go 16-0 in the playoffs, what Leicester did is still unbelievable.

It would be the equivalent of a Junior team winning the Stanley Cup with basically one professional at forward position.

Still, the fact that we're talking about historic milestones for an expansion franchise is a testament to their amazing season.

Yea, I suppose the Leicester City comparable in hockey would be a city the size of Saskatoon getting a franchise with no NHL players, restricted to a 15 million dollar(1/5th of the big teams) salary cap, and actually winning the Stanley Cup.

Vegas is an interesting story but they have a ways to go. Seattle will not get the same deal so this is a one of.

I didn't.

Though I dont follow soccer at all really, that story is a great one as well, but doesn't take away from what Vegas has done.

Im pretty confident in saying that Seattle will get pretty much the same exact deal that Vegas got. They are not paying $150,000,000 more than Vegas to get a worse one.

In what way will they not get the same deal? The league has already confirmed that the expansion draft rules will be the same. I'm sure some teams have learned lessons from last time, but that's about their own strategies, not the terms Seattle gets.

Seattle will get the same expansion draft rules as Vegas (pretty sure Bettman confirmed this a couple of months ago).

Where the difference will lie is the fact that there won't likely be a Fleury-calibre goalie available to them. Also, teams might be reluctant to make side deals to protect certain assets and just let the chips fall where they may rather than making a horrible deal like Florida did with Vegas.

Ultimately, it still comes down to execution. I'm sure that even McPhee and Gallant would have laughed at you if you had told them in July that they were going to win the Division and sweep the Kings in the first round. On the other hand, I doubt Chiarelli or McLellan would have blinked if you had told them the Oilers were going to do that.

How nice would it be to be a hockey fan, and never have experienced disappointment in your team.....
