If it meant getting AV as the coach, I'd fire GG during the ceremony. I don't care about the optics or hurt feelings, I want a team that can win and a coach that will help them win. Sounds heartless but it would really suck if another team jumped on AV because the Flames couldn't because they were there. I just hope conversations are going on right now.

Great post dfsflamesfan, thanks for putting in the work there.

I do think that the knock on him not developing younger players like Kassian and Hodgson is funny because it looks like AV just knew that those players didn't have what it takes to be productive NHLers. Kesler and Burrows were extremely productive young players for AV and grew within his system. Brady Skjei is a young player who was getting tons of ice time for the Rangers under AV.

Seems like a common refrain from fans amongst all teams though, clamouring for more ice for the young players.

Agreed, not giving Hodgson or Kassian lots of ice time seems like a smart this ng to do. He'd probably get sick of Bennett quickly, may not be a bad thing

Anyways thought AV was a good coach. What I liked the most about him is how he changed up his systems/style of play over the years with the canucks as the talent got better. There was a time that his defensive strategy was to chip it off the glass and out. He really changed his style when the Sedins came into prominence and they stared to push the pace and become much more offensive.

If take him in a hearty beat over Gulutzan.

Or he might light a fire under Bennett and turn him into what he was projected to be?
