Late, but if Bouma is asking for $2.5M and we are offering $1.5M?
This is gonna get done before arb, no doubt in my mind. I bet this thing gets signed at 4 years, $2.5M per. If our whole 3rd and 4th line was made up of Bouma clones, we'd be set.

I agree that they'll get something done on a multi-year deal before his scheduled hearing, but I can't see him getting his full asking price.

Good question. Considering guys like Ferland bring a very similar thing to Bouma and can be had under a million, I'd start there. To be generous to a guy that works hard, reward with 1.25M.
Chicago usually did a pretty good job of recycling the guys just on the outside of the core looking in. The one time they didn't they ended up hamstrung with Bickell and were forced to move out core pieces.

Ferland is on his ELC and has what? 60 games of NHL experience, if that? Not really a comparable.

Ferland is comparable talent wise. If we are talking about a guy best suited for the 4th line, don't go and make the same mistake Vancouver did with Dorsett. That's the risk.

Honestly man how can anyone take you seriously. Are you a Flames employee trying to whip up anti-Bouma sentiment among fans so it lessens the blow if they trade him?
The league min is what? $925k? And a guy who scored 34 odd points and 16 goals who brings intensity, heart & character, and is a 25 year old centerman is overpaid at $1.5 mil?

Who's selling him short? Everyone likes Bouma, how could you not like him? As I said in mt post, the only question is sustainability of investment in a player that plays a very aggressive, high-risk style of game.

By stating that was the flames best offer to Bouma, you are factually wrong.
Enjoy your day

If they offered him much more than $1.5, the deal would already be done. Instead, it's going to arbitration. Neither side is reportedly far apart, so Treliving must be insistent that, in his scheme of things, Bouma is not (or at least not yet) a $2M player, despite a nice season. Otherwise he would've reached across and paid the extra cash. If he improves and scores you 20+ next year, then call this a bridge and call me an idiot. But it reinforces my belief that Bouma is not a core player.

I believe "pepsishark" and "InconvenientTruth" are the same person.
Nobody who watched Bouma this year could think that he's overpaid at $1.5 M. It might end up being his best year, OR, it could be his breakout year where he finally established the player he will be in the NHL. No real way to know other than to see where he is this year.
Also, it's funny how an off-season and a couple of months removed from watching Bouma play will change people's opinions on where he fits in the organization. He was our 2nd best left winger this year, both statistically and intangibly. He was our 4th highest scoring forward, after Hudler/Gaudreau/Monahan. Sure, we have some nice depth of prospects coming through the pipeline and Bouma will likely remain in a bottom 6 role, but why are we so quick to get rid of our biggest secondary contributor at both ends of the ice last year. It would be like wanting to get rid of Michael Frolik over a couple hundred K.
I wish AC could post a Bouma highlight reel just to remind people of how much he contributes every night.

Firstly, Dorsett has never had a season as good as Bouma"s most recent season. Secondly, Dorsett's contract is a UFA one. And lastly, his cap hit is 2.65, which is greater than Boumas arbitration price so with some estimation we can assume that Bouma will come in right around the 2 million mark.
On Ferland, I agree that he is similar to Bouma in talent and style, in fact I think Ferland has much more potential. But you can't just spit out that that players like Ferland can be had for under a million dollars because he is on his ELC. That's like saying 30 goal scorers can be had for under a million because Sean Monahan is on his ELC.
Regardless, this debate has moved from reasonable to obvious troll so I will no long be bringing attention to your posts or pepsishark's.
Good day my friend!
