"Another successful season has come to a close, and rumors have been circulating through the media about our great franchise. That's unfortunate. Craig MacTavish is the General Manager of the Edmonton Oilers and Kevin Lowe will continue in his role as President of Hockey Operations. This has not changed.

-Darryl Katz"

Still holding out hope...

Makes sense, he's a smart guy and knows not to touch that mess unless he can do it his way

What a stupid rule. Reading on twitter the Bruins can receive a draft pick as compensation from the Oilers if they hire him. I get the rule if the guy they're hiring is still working for you. But if you release that person from their position within your organization, you really should not get anything. You ween't going to keep him anyways.

Yeah no way Chiarelli takes this unless he has full control. Lowe is gonna be fired... What's surprising is Katz hasn't done it yet.

I'm of the opinion that Lowe (and to a lesser degree MacT) is never fired but gets his salary with a BS title that is a "promotion" (which he will happilly take because he is a lap dog).

Katz to announce Chiarelli has been hired and that K-Lowe and MacT have been promoted to his best friends.

I'm seeing something different on the EJ website.

Earlier today Boston Bruins insider Joe Haggerty wrote: “All indications are that the Oil are poised to hire Chiarelli, and the Bruins will not seek compensation for their fired GM beyond being able to escape the contracted big dough they still owe him.”

All we need to do is drum up a rumour that Gretzky is interested in the job and Katz will pull the e-brake on Chiarelli.

I heard that Katz has gone a step further and is willing to adopt them both as his sons so they can be involved in the organization for as long as he owns the team.

They're going to hire both Chiarelli and McLellan, but won't let anyone go. Lowe and McTavish will both get promoted. The new MGMT will be...
Supreme Leader - Kevin Jong Lowe
Assistant Supreme Leader - Craig Jong McTavish
GM (and Kevin Lowe minion). - Peter Chiarelli
Coach - McLellan

I don't mind the look of that. As long as they don't get rid of the real problems.

Kevin Lowe and Craig MacTavish have donkey dinks for brains when it comes to hockey intelligence. Chiarelli on the other hand, understands the game in and out. Hate to admit it but if the Oilers get Chiarelli and then flush Lowe and McTavish back in the sewers where they've always belonged, then the Oilers will have taken a massive step in the right direction.

I also heard disturbing rumors that Lucic might get traded to the Oil for one of Hall or Eberle.
