Watching Brodie snapping the beautiful pass to Jooris's 2nd goal in slow mo when stoned is a thing of a beauty.

That was such a beautiful pass from giordano to bouma after subban tripped over his contract... I mean... Tripped. Just tripped.

Quick question, Brodie was taken in the 4th round back in 2008 in a draft stacked with top-rated defensemen. Based on his play the last couple years where do you think he'd rank among them?

Were talking about Doughty, Bogosian, Pietrangelo, Schenn, Myers, Teubert (lol), Karlsson, Gardiner, Sbisa, Del Zotto, Cuma, and Carlson that were all first rounders. After that there's still Voynov, Josi, Schultz, and Stone all taken before Brodie.

You'd have to rank Doughty, Pietrangelo, and Karlsson ahead of him. After that I suppose Carlson and perhaps Voynov are debatable, but it's pretty amazing that in a draft stacked with dmen Brodie is among the best.

How the heck did Brodie get so good? It's amazing the way Brodie was developed since the day the Flames drafted him. His skating had always been top tier.

I was really hoping they would blow out the habs after the last game and all the Habs fans doing their stupid ole chant. I could hear them after the game from a kilometre away.
I haven't been this pumped after a win in a long time. I hope Montreal goes on a huge losing streak now.

Suck it Habs fans. Go back to Quebec if you're going to root for a head snapping, diving team. They only have two ways to score: Subban pp shot, or stretch-pass breakaway to a forward shooting the zone.

Anyways, I did a bit of research. These are the defencemen I could find since the WHA merger. Might have missed some.

Reijo Ruotsalainen 84-85 Rangers* (switched to forward at some point)
Ray Bourque 84-85 Bruins
Larry Murphy 86-87 Capitals
Ray Bourque 86-87 Bruins
Ray Bourque 87-88 Bruins
Ray Bourque 90-91 Bruins
Brian Leetch 90-91 Rangers
Kevin Hatcher 90-91 Capitals
Phil Housley 90-91 Jets
Ray Bourque 91-92 Bruins
Phil Housley 91-92 Jets
Norm Maciver 92-93 Senators
Sergei Zubov 93-94 Rangers
Scott Stevens 93-94 Devils
Paul Coffey 94-95 Red Wings
Chris Chelios 95-96 Blackhawks
Brian Leetch 00-01 Rangers
Dick Tarnstrom 03-04 Penguins
Lubomir Visnovsky 05-06 Kings
Mark Streit 08-09 Islanders
Shea Weber 12-13 Predators
Keith Yandle 12-13 Coyotes
Erik Karlsson 13-14 Senators
Shea Weber 13-14 Predators
Keith Yandle 13-14 Coyotes

Good efforts but not at the level of the others.
I'm willing to give Sven a little bit of a break. Playing on Saturday. Then after the game, driving to Montreal, and arriving in around 2am.. Kid was probably a little tired.

Just finished watching the game.

I haven't seen the Flames play that well (since maybe the 07-08 Flames). The first period was pure domination. It was just wave after wave of Flames attack. I don't remember them getting out of their zone so easily.

So many good-to-great performances but what can you say about Brodie? He is awesome and just keeps getting better and better. Gio was great and so were Russell and Wideman.

Jooris played excellent and Johnny Hockey did what he did best. You can see him gaining confidence with each passing game -- soon enough he'll be back to his Boston College self controlling the play the entire time.

I'm so proud of the team with so many regulars out to take the play to Montreal team and never let up.

Bravo.

Both of those Jooris goals were gorgeous. I'm a massive fan of this kid. He's money on the breakaway. Keep doing what you're doing!

And Granlund even chippin in, first two games up. Talk about "reinforcements".

Sorry, McWho? I'm having too much fun winning this season.

And oh don't look or anything but there's TJ Brodie, just sitting above Patrick Marleau and John Tavares for points on the year..

#####. We've got an elite pairing on our hands. And they just schooled Subban and his shiny 9 mil deal.

Which is good. JG gave the puck away several times, and made a few questionable decisions with the puck, and was still easily the most dangerous forward on the ice. The only buzz in the building was Gaudreau.

When JG is finished finding his way in this league... look out.

Don't blame me for being overoptimistic, this is all Sportsclubstats.com!

75.6% chance of making the playoffs (7th in the league and tops amongst Canadian teams)
5.2% chance of winning the Cup

Oilers (BTW)

17.6% chance of making the playoffs (27th in the league and bottom amongst Canadian teams)
0.4% chance of winning the Cup

Good point -- Gio + Brodie = 9 million

I'll take that.

Brodie and Gio are #2 and 3 in D scoring, just behind Burns. Hard for anyone to argue they are not a top pairing league-wide right now. Just let that sink in for a second. Wow.

I was just looking at that.
Dennis Wideman rounds out the top 10.

I think Russell is playing fine as well, at least at or above the modest expectations that most had for him?

Plus player...top 20 in D-man assists...top 30 in D-man points...and moves the puck OK
