I've posted twice in his thread. The first post was my speculation. Which you also posted your speculation (someone kidnapped the three of them).
The second post was just what I heard from respected individuals (Canmore firemen) and what I concluded from what I was told.
You do know its not uncommon for cops to use the media this way so they don't tip off the suspect(s) right?

I specifically asked "so it's the grandparents that kidnapped the boy?" And the answer I was given was "yes, that's how we're treating it".

Really makes you wonder what was going on with all these odd posts from AlbertGQ. Just being pretty sure of himself and then reinforcing his assertion in the thread by making up confirmation? Got bad confirmation from firefighters? Although why would they do that? Just odd all around.

CBC saying the Amber Alert is still in effect. I hope they're not mistaken.

Looks like the URL of the Amber Alert changed at some point, so the one Raekwon posted says "no longer in effect".
But this one here is still active and linked from the emergency alerts homepage.

Raekwon's link is an old link and has since been superseded by an updated alert, so it shows the original alert as no longer in effect. Just a minor screw up by the Emergency Alert people not breaking that old link as soon as an update is posted.
(or exactly what jaydorn just said)

This sounds bad, but I am immensely grateful the alert is still in effect. Give a ray of hope still.

I couldn't imagine if I had this happen to any of my 3 kids.
Thoughts and prayers to the family.

Regardless, I can only see one outcome of this press conference. It would have leaked in a joyous way if they were found alive. You'd have them being taken away from the scene and into waiting ambulances with media all around, prompting tweets saying they're alive and being transported etc.
I want to hold out hope, but I just honestly can't see it.

5-year-old, grandparents disappear from Calgary home
I guess this is why the porta-potties were brought in:
Quote:
@NancyHixt: Police say they will be on the scene of the rural property near Airdrie for 24-36 hours #yyc
|
Also:
Quote:
@NancyHixt: Police confirm they were led to this property after a tip from the public about the truck investigators were looking for #yyc

The person that was taken in was for "questioning," I don't think he was arrested. 770 says the truck only matched the description and isn't yet confirmed to be the exact one they're looking for. Public tips led to the acreage. Calgary Police will be on scene potentially till Monday morning.

It's possible evidence of them being there at some point has been found - that would require forensic to the same level would it not? Just seems funny that the alert is still active.

Just because they werent found at this particular spot doesnt mean the outcome has to be the worst possible...though I agree with the time that has passed and the description of the crime scene, a happy ending seems unlikely.
However, never give up hope until it has to be.

Right, if the Amber Alert is still active, then presumably they haven't found the child.
That still may not be good news, but I'm naively hopeful right now.

Just a theory... if it is grim news at the press conference, there's no major harm in not cancelling the alert till that information is officially revealed at the presser, else we and the press would jump to conclusions based on the cancelling of the alert (as we just sorta did)

By the same logic a bodies found info should leak just as fast. Still missing would be what I expect.

The Police may also choose or have chosen to leave the Amber Alert up as it does become a prompt for the public if they have information.
It's very unlikely the police have all the answers right now. Now with the search being in a specific area, perhaps it trigger's someone's memory that was on those roads or in those area's to seeing something out of place that maybe they dismissed. I'm sure they still want information from people in the area or who have seen anything to call in so they can fill in the blanks.
If you take down the amber alert, that could say "case closed" to some and perhaps someone with important info doesn't come forward. As someone said, until the police do the presser and complete the search or whatever they feel answers the questions they have, leave the alert up and see if the public has any other information to help them.
