So would I. Who owns a typewriter?

The thin air part is totally believable for Garrioch, however.

Not going to stop this from being a "bullet dodged" comment theme in years to come.

I am not sure it means he made it up.

Garrioch seems like a guy, similiar to Ekland, that will report anything he hears with little regard for how reliable or realistic the source is.

My guess is he did hear it from somebody but that somebody had little connection to the Flames or the Sens.

That seems more likely than Burke forgetting or not telling Trevelling that he made an offer for a guy that would become the highest paid, and argubly best player, on the Flames team. That would be a pretty big thing to leave out when discussing the job with him.

Its all in the wording. Treliving says "oh maybe these guys for spezza is a possibility or something we could think about" different than "we will trade you these guys for spezza" gets leaked that he offered them up, he can deny it as it was not the wording he used.

So this is maybe our GM was stepped over by the President to negotiate a trade without the knowledge of the GM

VS

A reporter made something up.

The beauty of labeling something a rumour is that if it doesn't come true, it's not your fault.

RUMOUR: Spezza has indicated that the only team on his list is the Flames, and won't waive unless Gaudreau and Giordano are returned to the Sens

See, we can all do it!
