I'm fine with ppl cheering iggy, but on bostons first goal, everyone around me was going nuts during that pp, even when he wasn't on the ice
something about that didn't sit well with me. when its 1-0, 7:40 left, other team is on the pp, your home team has been getting hammered all period, that's definitely where you put on your Calgary flames hat

I switched to the Boston feed and it was perfect. The TSN one was choppy all game.
Not sure why that happens, but just take note.

I'm not sure why people are up in arms. It's obvious that a lot of casual Flames fans that are more Iginla fans snapped up the tickets for last night's game. This is why the Flames ownership were so terrified to deal him sooner as they knew a small percentage of fans were more attached to the player than the team. Also there's always been a good size of Bruins fans around even in this part of the continent and you would see a lot of black and gold jerseys regardless of Iginla. Outside of the Flames and Oilers I would say the next largest contingent of fans when I was growing up was Bruins fans outnumbering Leafs and Habs fans.

Clearly, this loss can be pinned on one culprit. The 3rd jerseys. Burn them with fire.
I think the Iggy tributes were well handled by both sides. It speaks volumes about the Bruins organization that a good portion of the team came back out to the bench to force him out to acknowledge the crowd. And Chara and the others encouraging, or rather, forcing, him to take the 2 victory laps was very cool. Can you honestly say you've ever seen something like that when a player returns to his legendary stomping grounds?
It pains me to say so, as I know an obnoxious Bruins fan, but it will please me to see Boston win the Cup with Iggy. And if there's a God, they'll beat Vancouver again, and they can finish burning that town to the ground.

Haha I saw you on TV. That sign made me laugh.

Was at the game last night. Starting at 6PM, and going until 1030ish, is a long shift at the dome (head is a bit sore today).
To address the fans, there was a huge number of Bruins fans at the game. I actually did not realize how many until they scored in the 3rd. Add in that everyone is cheering Iginla as well, and that may have made it seem the home town crowd was not cheering for the team. This is false.
However, this was Iginla's night, and I am fine with that. Seeing the guy get 2-3 Min standing ovation to start the game from the crowd was amazing and gave me goosebumps. I have not felt that kind of energy in the dome since the playoffs.
Wish we won, but will never forget the game.

Sucks cause Flames played a very good game for 40mins...ah well, good teams find ways to win. Flames sure know how to find ways to lose but hey, look at our roster compared to teams like Boston...IMO we were lucky this game was 1-0 through 2 1/2 periods...

Bit dissapointed by that.

Why? it's not like this was his last game in Calgary. I have no problem with that. I wanted to see Hudler's reaction as he had to wait to get out for his 2nd star, but TSN didn't show it.

Why is this a problem? The Oilers are inexplicably behind the Flames in the standings. If this is supposed to be a rebuild, and even if you want the Flames themselves to be competitive, you don't want the Oilers getting a higher pick and therefore probably shouldn't be opposed to them moving up the standings. Especially at the expense of the Hurricanes.
The Flames really do need a top 5 pick.

Yup. There are a lot of Bruins fans and that's carried over down the generations. They are an original 6 team, if Iginla had come back as a Penguin and there were as many Penguin jerseys in the crowd, that would be bandwagoning.

couple of points:
in my section there was a few bruins fans, no doubt. I wasn't upset about them cheering on the bruins
what did bother me was how many people in flames jerseys, who were cheering for the flames all game, who were talking about the flames, got so excited when a Jerome iginlaless Boston powerplay was taking over
that's all. maybe they thought he was on the ice, I'm not sure(pl5, row 19, pretty far back), but it was definitely not a bunch of people in bruins onesies and such that were getting hype

The Bruins are the only team in the East that has a chance to beat a West team for the cup this year.
Man I love Chara. Best captain in the NHL.

I know thats what it was for me.
It's not like Oiler or Nuck fans who can see their team many times a year so they can pick and choose what game they want to go to.

Even if there weren't a lot of Bruins fans, what's wrong with being an Iggy fan? Is it that hard to understand that some people are also fans of players rather than just a team (especially fans who grew up idolizing a player). You can cheer for both the Flames and Iginla you know. It's not mutually exclusive.
Besides, those people paid for the right to cheer however they want. If people have a problem with it, that's really their own problem.

I think we see Iggy go on a bit of tear. I think now that he knows the city and fans, well most fans, are behind him and rooting for him, and the fans and him got some closure, and more or less got to say goodbye and thank you.
I just think as an athlete, one that played an entire career for one team, one city that has to be on your mind a little bit, especially a player like Iggy whom invested so much personally and emotionally into Calgary.

I hate one goal leads. Way too easy for the other team to get back in it.
Nice move and a quick shot for that 2nd goal.

But two goal leads are the worst in hockey.

He never came out.
It was a miss to not have Iginla as the 1st star.
Would have been pretty sad for Hudler to have to come out after the reception that Iginla got.
