If Bouma was healthy Begin would have been retired by now. I've never much liked Begin to be......sigh.......begin with. I agree McGratton should be here, should have never really left but he was a victim of the contract space.
Even if he isn't "NHL" ready yet I would bring up Reinhart and let him get those fourth line minutes and get a taste of the NHL. Show him what its like and show him first hand what its going to take for him to get a full time NHL spot.
And please Flames...for the love of all that is holy and right. Start moving off assets and move on. It is time.

You don't even have to look in the AHL, just don't play him. Cervenka or Blair Jones are way more effective. He's completely useless.
|
Blair Jones wasn't any more effective than Begin, so 6 of one half a dozen of the other there. I'd be up for giving Aliu a shot, but he seems like a head case that needs to be managed and only rewarded if he's earned it, seems like he's delicate and could bring bad dressing room and attitude stuff if isn't managed properly.
Cervenka should not be on the 4th line.
Seems like the Flames lack 4th line options, so they had to fill a hole with PTO plug veteran rather than play some AHL kid who isn't ready and be better off playing on the Heat. Sucks that that's the reality, but I kind of think it is.

I'm not going to pretend that I don't care at all, I'm posting after all. But I can't remember the last time I've been this dissengaged with a Flames team. Until changes are made, no hope for now, no hope for improvement in the near future. For the first time in a while, the Flames are nothing more than an accessory to socializing with friends etc... versus the main event they have been for the past 10 years,

I doubt we will be within enough points of the Oilers at any time for the rest of the year where even the most optimistic fan could say "if we won every game in hand we would pass the Oilers". I am pretty sure they are well clear of the Flames now.

I'm sure it's already been said but the lovely blonde girl behind Hartley single-handedly made this game watchable.
And that's impressive because it was a bad, bad game.

We're all guilty of it from time-to-time, no doubt about it. It's the guys that that's all they bring to the table that is truly annoying.

I think we are getting close to that nail in the coffin that sparks the big changes. I am looking forward to a new direction. I hope the deadline benefits the flames with the limited amount if sellers. Also a top 5 pick will give us the best prospect this team has had since Iggy

I can't even imagine anyone associated with the team thinking it's best to keep any players we can sell off at this point. I bought that line of reasoning in previous years because at some point we atleast held a playoff spot, so I could see their hope.
We've been crap this season from start to finish, the longest winning streak being two games.
I am flabbergasted how Florida is worse.

However I am on the side of not letting feaster drive over that cliff though as i question his abilities of simple things after the ROR fiasco...so its a rock and a hard place time.
|
You are under-estimating the visual impact of rows upon rows of empty seats to the owners, management and players on this team. Knowing you play in a wealthy hockey town but can't fill your own barn - is really an embarrassment. It actually makes it worse when you know those seats have been paid for, and folks still can't be bothered to come and watch your product.
so i'd say the fact those empty seats would be paid for ... actually sends a stronger message for change.
agreed. the owners aren't idiots. But i do think they need to see empty seats.

I believe in the Jays.

Just a thought here...maybe we should get some centers. This has been a problem for nearly as long as I remember.

Actually if you look at good top end draft years (which this year is supposed to be) the rate of busts in the top 5 is very low.
So to say there's a good chance a top 3-5 pick in a good year will bust is just plain wrong.

Begin likely wouldn't have been signed if Lance Bouma hadn't gone down to season ending injury.
Pretty sure Bouma was pencilled in as a young 4th line gritty player.

Nahville is a pretty crappy hockey team.
The Flames are worse.
