I was in the core today too and saw police having blocked off 5th, 3rd and Center streets from the north, I just went west to 14 street and south to 12 ave. It was a minor inconvenience for me and not a gear grinder is what I’m saying. There was also noticeably more people in the core for a Sunday.

People just don’t communicate anymore apparently. If you’re camping in a normal campground and someone is doing something so annoying just talk to them.

You forgot generators. I can accept most of the things you mentioned because at least it’s people having fun away from home. But bring your generator and you haven’t left home so piss off.

That's literally the dumbest thing you can do. If people are being jackasses it's because they're jackasses. Way better to tell the campground staff and let them deal with it thus leaving you out of it and not in a position of being at war with your neighbour on your fataing holiday.

I dunno, I think it's a pretty slim group of people that are both:

1. inconsiderate/obnoxious
2. super receptive to being called out on #1

I'm sure there are times where talking would work, but it's an inverse relationship to the degree of annoyance.

Ask a dog owner in this city to put their off leash dog on a leash (not in an off leash park) -you will quickly learn what you said to be true.

I find the correlation between people who are the most wrongly entitled (ie bad dog owners who walk their dog off leash is cut and dry of being wrongly entitled and inconsiderate) and the defensive reaction is strong.

Yup, dog owners with no accountability or regard towards the laws are some of the most entitled pricks I've encountered.

Yeah, the huge reaction I got from someone who I asked to put their bully breed dog on a leash (that was running around out of control at an elementary school during pickup) gmg. It's illegal to have dogs on school property for exactly that reason- hundreds of little kids unpredictably running around isn't a good fit.

It's incredible how upset people get if a road is closed. I don't mean you, but In the age of everyone having a GPS in their hands, it's amazing to me that people absolutely lose their minds if their favourite way is unavailable. I've had people literally crying because they don't know how to get home any other way

there are only two kinds of camping that are fun.

1. A base camp for out door activities
2. A party with all your friends.

I'll also accept cheaper than a hotel room.

Going camping at a busy RV campsite to "get away from it all" makes no sense to me.

But it wasn’t just one road. It was a dozen roads, probably more. And none of them were reported closed on gps. And no detours were set up. And they were critical roads with no way around. With no signs either. Literally it was impossible to get from the north side of 9th to the south side of 9th between Macleod and 11st. That’s all of downtown. No cops directing traffic, no alternate routes set up, no signage, no google maps. Just close half of downtown and call it a day. It was hilarious incompetence.

That's every event, there's no detours for the stampede parade either. Or globalfest. Or Calgary marathon.

Their doesn't need to be detours if it's only for a few hours, there doesn't even need to be signs. Detours are only if a closure lasts over 24 hours. Instead they make the information and closures as public as possible. Maps are posted on the website and plastered all over twitter, Reddit, etc.

Well they obviously didn’t do a very good job because from what I could see the entire core was one big traffic jam for a few hours.

It's even the same parade route as the stampede parade as far as I can remember

I think this is just one of those 'The world doesn't work the way you think it should" moments

Don't worry, I get a lot of those

Not even that. This year, it was on a single road. It was on 9th Ave only, started at 6 St SW and went to 4 St SE. Didn't leave 9th Av.

That doesn’t even make any sense. The world doesn’t follow common sense? It’s just bad planning, plain and simple

When they close any road, they put up one of those big roadside led signs warning people to take alt route xyz. They didn’t even have that.

Don't know what else to tell ya, they did nothing different than any other event. Traffic jams happen during every parade, they could put all kinds of signs, warnings, detours, and people would just ignore them anyway
