Its funny you can't see the main return of the 7 or so vets the Flames have traded has been HIGH DRAFT PICKS and not players. They put this stuff out as clickbait for guys like you.

I don't know.... based on what is being rumoured thus far the teams with the best assets to offer do not need salary retention (Red Wings) and the teams that need salary retention have the least to offer (Stars).
Considering we may still have Kadri and Coleman on the trade block, someone would have to pay a premium to take 1 of our 2 remaining retention slots for Andersson and take that retention slot away from either the Coleman or Kadri trades.
Dallas would need to pony up big for that: Bichsel + 1st + Hemming.
If they aren't offering something significant then we may as well save the retention slots to get a 1st out of Coleman and a haul out of Kadri.

In order to be Buffalo West you need to draft top 9 for ten straight years and you have to trade away 5 of those drafted players before they turn 26. The Flames don’t make either of those criteria.

I just can not see the Stars being able to resign Ras with Harley’s deal kicking in next year. Especially if they want to sign Robertson. If it is Dallas he is going as a rental.
So the Stars aren’t going to give up Bischel, Hemming and a 1st for an upcoming UFA

I know that, they have traded all their players for firsts or seconds not other players being the main part of the return
Its not rocket science

Well we did draft top 9 for a few years
Tkachuk - Traded when he was 24
Bennett - Traded when he was 24
Monahan - Traded when he was 26
But I think he was more referring to our playoff success over the last few decades.

How is an extension done? Do the Flames do a sign and trade or is it a verbal deal and the extension is completed after the trade is completed? I’m wondering if the Flames do a sign and trade, wouldn’t they be responsible for the retention for the life of the new contrac?

Based on what we hear from ownership/management vs what is rumoured to be going on with Raz and what they have done in recent years tells me we should put more stock in what they do as opposed to what they say because their PR just seems to be all over the place and contradicts Conroy's vision actually is.

Lol you can argue whatever you want. But both organizations have had very little success over the past 20 years.
And their ownership groups have been a big reason why.

Well a big difference is every inside that knows something about the Flames says that Edwards is hands off and lets the GM have complete autonomy. That is a pretty significant difference.

Sorry, I wasn't directing that at you, but at Murray Edwards and others. They think saying 'rebuild' is like saying Voldemort or something.
I agree with you, it's pretty simple to see what the team has done and is doing and it's pretty clear it's a rebuild.
