other than the first game where he had 3 goals, one being the EN, another mostly invisible playoffs for Tkachuk.

Gaudreau was better, but I'm not sure his play is enough for us to get further in the playoffs going forward. I'd trade Tkachuk for a haul. Sens?

Flames need a game breaking center. Still haven't had one since, what, the 80s?
It's not surprising the lack of success the Flames have had because of this.

Get as much as you can for JG and MT; sign/trade whatever.

JG is so scared out there. Does not lend itself to playoff wins. His value is as high as it can go so now is the time.
Gaudreau just played out his contract. How are you going to trade him for anything? Maybe you could get a 2nd rounder at best for early neg. rights. That would be the max. His trading value is actually at an all time low.

Yeah, if Gaudreau walks than the team is at an interesting crossroads

If we wanna stay competitive next year we gotta keep Johnny. I don’t trust this team’s chances with Chucky as our top forward

I love Johnny. I truly do. But Tre dropped the ball six years ago when he didn't sign him to an eight year deal.

Signing Johnny to a retirement deal would be the worst move going forward.

Tkachuk and Gaudreau sell tickets and jerseys which is good for business but they do not make a difference in the playoffs.

Are they who we want to be the face of the team for whenever they open up the new arena?
I have visions of when the new Red Wings arena opened and there were so many empty seats in the lower bowl.

How do you replace Tkachuk’s points in the regular season, would the Flames have made the playoffs without him? He’s still a young player.

It’s up to Johnny now on wether he stays or signs elsewhere and same with Matthew.

I’m sure there’ll be changes for next season either way.

Johnny must be re-signed. He's not the reason why the series was lost. He's the reason why the Flames even made it to round 2 in the first place.

I'm much more disappointed in Tkachuk. Had a great game 1, that early assist in game 2, but was brutal from that point on. A shockingly bad showing, especially if he wasn't playing with an injury. I would be very open to the idea of trading him, as long as the return is good. If the Sens are willing to part with either Stutzle or Batherson, I would make a 1-for-1 trade for either of those guys.

That would be a fun game to look back on in a series win, or even anything more than a 5 game series. Not so much after losing four straight after it.

It's like the Smith gaffe - would have lived on for ages, instead it's a brutal goal to give up that was avenged minutes later for a 3-1 series lead.

Anyone expecting Gaudreau to outplay McDavid or Pissy is insane.
He played very well and elevated his game to a level we've wanted to see in the playoffs for years.
He was the best forward in series 1 and top 2 for the Flames in series 2.
The list of forwards that could outplay McDavid is small or zero and that can't be the expectation on Johnny.

I've been critical of him in all previous playoffs and even the first 2 games vs Dallas, but this post season he proved himself.

Tkachuk can’t handle the pace of the playoffs. Hasn’t learned to adapt his game to having less space and time.

On the Johnny front - if he walks, this has to be a scorched earth rebuild. No other option makes any sense.

On Chucky? I’d trade Tkachuk to New Jersey for #2 and Alexander Holtz.

…maybe even toss in Kylington if needed?

Logan Cooley and Alexander Holtz would be pretty cool.

He's also immature and gets doped into nonsense like fighting Klingberg when he should be on the ice making a difference.

It's such a shame because there's games where he's so important like game 1 of each series, then there's the rest.
The pace isn't an issue in those games, so is that really the problem?

I think he's just overrated to be honest. He's a good hockey player when he's on his game, but when he's off, which happens quite a bit, he's just not effective.

I don't really buy that. Dude has strong underlying numbers his whole career and his offensive production is fantastic.

He's very, very good. The team has holes elsewhere that Tkachuk shouldn't be blamed for.

...I also don't see him being a Flame past the draft. Too much noise last off-season. I expect he'll be traded (for a lot).

Gonna be interesting to see what happens with Tkachuk. Feels like there's only two choices here - either sign him long-term and we HAVE to name him captain, or trade him for a big return.

If we trade him, something like Barzal++ would be my target. Someone who can create offense on a separate line. If Sutter can turn Gaudreau's game around this much, I'd love to see what he could do with Barzal.

I’ve been hoping the Flames and Johnny have had a deal all but done but they’ve been sitting on it to keep the focus on this year and the playoffs … I need hope wherever I can get it!
