I cant see the Sens moving their future long term #1 Center and adding a top 10 pick.

Johnny - yes
Tkachuk - no, if he doesn't sign the QO he remains an RFA and can't play until he has a deal. Dec 1 being the deadline before he sacrifices an entire season - not gonna happen when there is $9M on the table for him to play the season and then walk (if not traded/re-signed)

I would move mountains to sign Johnny and qualify and trade Tkachuk if the price is right. I’ve always been leery of Tkachuk because of his Dad’s influence (holding out with a signed contract). His playoff performance isn’t helping but he’s young.
Is Tre going to be the GM that does it?

Johnny was obviously great in round one but really hasn’t done much this series. Then again, no one has.

He has played at a 102 point pace...maybe some other players should pick up the slack?

Johnny is the only one with an actual choice here. Tkachuk has to stay at least 1 year if we offer it to him. It would be outrageously stupid not to do that and then trade him if we aren't going to keep him long term ourselves.
Preferable to keep both of them still, IMO.

Last 2 games he's played at a zero point pace. Last 3 it's 54 points. These stats mean nothing. Him and Chucky need to score for this team to win.

They're scoring fine relative to expectation. Markstrom has been the biggest bed ####ter relative to projection, while the entire d core is close behind.
In terms of scoring, It would be great to get more offense from the D Core as well, along with literally annnny signs of life from Dube-Coleman-Jarnkrok-Lucic (combined 8 points in 44 games). Dube in particular has been absolutely useless.

If we know he won't sign long term the best chance at a return would be a long term deal sign and trade. Nobody's giving us much for 1 year, or less, of Tkachuk.

I would love to see any of Dube, Magiapane, Coleman or the defence chip in as well but Johnny and Chucky need to get on the scoresheet. And, yes, Markstrom needs to play like an actual starting goaltender.

Johnny has completely turned around any negative thoughts that I might have had about his play in the past. His improved 200ft game, and dedication to the team aspects (leadership) makes him a no-brainer to re-sign.
It's interesting that the two teams that have made their 2022 firsts available publicly have been the two teams that have also expressed an interest in Tkachuk. New Jersey's #2 is interesting because Slafkovsky looks like he could be a prototypical power winger, with speed, size and ability. They would have to also add... Dawson Mercer might be a reach. Ottawa has a drop in quality at #7, but prying out Shane Pinto would solve long term midldle six centre issues. Throw in the much maligned Eric Branstrom, just to troll Las Vegas.
Anyway, the point is that there seems to be paths out there for Tkachuk, but the chatter on Johnny is dead quiet.

or you know some others could contribute
not sure why game one doesn't count...I'm pretty happy they won it personally

My thoughts are I hope Johnny will resign for long term around 9 per and we sign Tkachuk to his QO and work on trading him while we have some control and he will be worth a lot. I'm not sure if a sign and trade would be appropriate but that's something I would consider too. Only caveat being if he is willing to sign long term under his QO without trade protection but I sure don't see that happening.

You get a hell of a lot more by trading Tkachuk after qualifying than before.

So yeah, Tkachuk is not the one. Someone else can overpay for him.
Give the money to Johnny, and build from there.

If Tkachuk does not have a broken hand he needs to be traded asap.

Well, if that was Johnny's last game as a Flame, thanks for the memories. Hopefully we get something decent for Tkachuk because he is not the player you build a team around.

A broken hand doesn’t effect your legs and drive. Guy was invisible or non effect pretty much all playoffs.

Give Backlund the C next year. Him, Lindholm, Mang should be the new core.
Get as much as you can for JG and MT; sign/trade whatever.
JG is so scared out there. Does not lend itself to playoff wins. His value is as high as it can go so now is the time.
