I think Coleman is more of a priority to move than Kadri personally. I think his value is significantly higher for 2 runs. The 1st I think he can get this year is peak value and next year’s return will be closer to a 2nd and 3rd. This team also is loaded with wingers and Gridin won’t be back with the team until there is a top 9 spot. Coleman represents what this team has the most in left shot left wingers. Kadri is in a situation where the Flames have very few centers.
I agree all 3 should be traded but I think Coleman is a greater priority to move than Kadri

I also think Kadri is harder to trade given us respecting his restrictions.
All three is preferred.

I don't necessarily think less teams would be interested. Its not like he's going to be on a bargain contract after he signs like he is now.

Dreger says that many believe it is likely Kadri gets traded
He also says that if Conroy gets what he needs from Andersson and Kadri (if he gets traded) trades, that it is unlikely Coleman gets traded. He is downplaying how high Coleman is on trade boards saying the Flames want to keep him for the same reasons other teams want him.
|
"If he gets what he needs" is interesting - Why stop, why not get more?

I think Kadri is actually easier to move contractually - no consideration of whether or not they will waive their protections, cap, market, etc - just what's in their contract.
Kadri has 13 teams he can block, so Flames would be able to trade with 18 teams without permission. Coleman can block 21 teams and Flames can only deal with 10.

Flames want to keep him because he'll be good in a playoff run given his experience and grit?
Dregs....come on now.

Playing Rasmus tonight is gonna to piss me off.
If what we know is true and he now won’t sign with the three teams, we are already getting less value. Bench him so we don’t lose any further value with an injury.

Personally I wouldn’t mind keeping Coleman and resigning him. You can keep
Him with Backlund and give the prospects that role on their wing as they come into the league. It’s worked before and it should continue to do so.
I don’t think it would be the same with Farabee on that wing.
Alternatively you can move farabee there now to audition for that role, and if it works out then for sure you can move on from Coleman. But he’s a solid vet to keep if you’re gonna keep a couple.

Just as a comparison - Weegar is basically Andersson with the contract. Who fetches you more in a trade - Weegar with 6 years left or Andersson as a rental. I don't think the difference is much and teams are probably trying to convince you to take on some of Weegar's contract.

They never scratched guys in the past when they were on the trade block. I don't know why you expected them to do it this time. It seems like you set yourself up to be pissed off a lot.

Agreed. Kadri has too much term left on his deal to retain salary and risk him becoming untradeable.
Even if Coleman is struggling next year, trading him 50% RS will still get a good return.
Kadri and Ras must go this year.

hard to say when we don't have much information.
You can't scratch the guy going forward indefinitely.
The Flames know how close a deal is. I assume they are making an informed decision.

If a deal is pending, sure. If it's still uncertain, they really can't. It still might be a week out for all we know.

Coleman has more restrictions contractually and could block a trade completely if he wants

Hearing its not quite that Andersson won't sign an extension with a team, but more that in order to do that, he's asking a higher annual value than he's likely to get if he hits the market in order to spend the next 8 years with a team sight unseen. He values the idea of going to market, considering a multitude of options in terms of contention windows/location and lifestyle for family, even a bidding war with cap increases. In order to forego that in advance of actually stepping foot into an organization, he wants a premium, and doesn't sound like 7 vs 8 years means as much as the other things.
Completely fair from his perspective IMO.
