That should work.. That phone was a bloody pain to unlock. I have an original at home, and unlocking it was so difficult whenever I updated the firmware.

I will let you know how it goes. My blackberry scroll ball keeps sticking and being useless so I figured I would play on the old iphone for a bit since money is a little tight

It started getting easy when they came out with BootNeuter which did it the first time you jailbroke.
I used that phone from launch heh. First paid for a hardware unlock when software was not available.

Yes. If you jailbreak to 3.1.3 your phone cannot be further updated- and will remain unlocked.
Download the 3.1.3 IPSW and restore to it- just to make sure thats what your phone currently has.

Verizon has always been pretty good at commercials. I don't think your nemesis Android would be where it is today without the Droid Does campaign.

Quick question. I have the Iphone4 for Telus and want to listen to the FAN960 tonight for the game. I see taht FAN960 app is for Rogers/Fido only? What is a good and cheap radio app I can download to stream the FAN on a Telus Iphone?
Thanks!

Tunein Radio is the best bet, on sale for 99 cents and it gives you access to pretty much any radio station including the fan. Best app that I have purchased for my Iphone.

I use WunderRadio but it's not free. It's nice because it has a massive listing of streaming radio from all over North America.
FStream is free and works well, you've got to enter the Fan960 stream address manually then you're good to go.
I think there is a thread about this, try a search.

Can anyone tell me the best way to jailbreak an Iphone 4 thats on 4.2 software? I tried the limerain and the other one (oldsnow?? or whatever) and neither seemed to work for me. Any tips or advice? Am I better waiting to upgrade to 4.3 and then jailbreaking after that?

That radio app is awesome. Thanks to whomever posted it first.
Stations that come up but are not available.... what exactly does this mean.
Are they not available at the time of day i tried, are not in the system to work yet or what?

Make sure that you go into the options and select the 32k wma stream. It will lower your bandwidth usage.

And shell out $20...a month for hotspot ability.
And, no, you cant use your new unlimited data plan on it, its got its own 2gb cap...with a $20 per GB overage.

Ridiculous...but I suspect similar charges here for the same feature on the IP4 or 5.

Screw that. I can understand if they want to cap hotspot usage on an unlimited 3G plan. Hell, I can even understand the massive charge for going over that limit. But 20 bucks a month just to even use the wifi hotspot feature? That is just plain stupid. Go get MyWi on a jailbroken iPhone. turns your iPhone into a 3G hotspot that is compatible with most devices. Costs nothing extra per month either.
I use MyWi all the time to allow my laptop or wifi only iPad to access the internet when I am on the CTrain or as a passenger in a car. An extra 20 bucks a month just to surf CP, check email or look at the occasional youtube video on my laptop instead of my iPhone while on the go is just stupid.

It looks like they charge the same $20 already just to tether, and the Wifi part will be included in that add-on. I'm not saying it's right, just pointing out that they already charge for tethering (well AT&T, so why wouldn't Verizon follow suit?)
I wonder what our carriers will do up here. Normally they find a way to charge us for everything, but right now I can tether as part of my plan so I wonder if I'll have to pay extra for the wifi hotspot...
