Without getting into specifics about who stole it, we decided not to press charges. We just wanted the phone back. But from what I hear, the officer put quite the scare into her and made her realize she was effin' lucky we didn't press charges.

From what brownah said to me, the cop had never heard of the app and seemed pretty impressed with it.

Find my iPhone? It works *properly* on the 3G and 3GS. It is included in a MobileMe subscription but Apple recently gave it free for anyone with an iPhone 4. (so if you have an older model you need MobileMe)

i posted earlier in this thread with a method to get it on a 3g or 3gs for free if you can get access to an iphone 4 for about 2-3 minutes. it involves making a free mobileme account on the iphone 4 and then logging into it with your older iphone. if you don't have access to a 4, you can go to the apple/cellphone store and "borrow" one of their display ones and it should work fine.

This is what a co-worker and I did with her iPhone 3gs. We just took it to the university computer store and made an account on one of the iPads on display.

Maybe I'm not doing something right or being dumb...but does anyone know how I can access my previously connected wifi list?

I connect to a few and want to get rid of a couple. Just wondering where I can access this list of previously connected wifi.

I love find my iPhone. Of course I've only used it to find it within my house. But at least I'm saving my roommate's cellular minutes.

Edit: Apparently, this bad boy has 5-user wifi hotspot functionality built in (software). Does that mean the rest of the iPhone 4s will get it too?

Software-wise the big innovation is five user WiFi hotspot functionality, something that's standard on Android phones
If we got that for the iPhone 5 I would learn how to do a backflip.

Gotta love the fact you say that, then say this.

This is finally going to test the iOS/Android/Windows market in the States. Being tethered to AT&T didn't really allow the iPhone a fair shake at other customers who didn't want to switch carriers or hated AT&T. Their numbers were obviously still great but I think this opens them up to a hell of a lot more people.

11:25AM Question from Ars Technica: what happens when you're on a call and need to use data?

Dan: Same as a CDMA device.

So... you don't.
Ouch.

I suppose I'd probably give up that functionality if it meant I could have wifi hotspots.

Usual CDMA restriction, no data while on a voice call. I think Telus phones still have the same problem?

The real question is how will Verizon handle HUPs? Will they do it like Rogers, and allow almost everyone to switch over... or like Telus and practically no one?

Is this true? I figured HSPA was supposed to fix that. If you arent on HSPA and just on the CDMA then yes.

I actually don't know for sure. I'm almost positive that my brother has that issue with his Telus 3GS. I'm hoping someone with a Telus iPhone will comment.

No. Wind is AWS. Needs T-Mobile in the states to get the iPhone if Wind gets it.

I'm not 100% sure, but I do believe HSPA handles data and voice at the same time. At least on the Telus network.
