Yeah I never did the communal shower thing either, I'll be home in a few minutes anyways or, if we're hitting the pub we all smell so you won't even notice.

But I never played hockey, I played indoor soccer for many, many years and in all of those years I never saw a single person use those showers. Not one. And I'd never, ever set foot in one without shower-shoes.

God only knows the last time those things were cleaned...*shiver*

Locke's fears of athlete's foot infested shower stalls is the only valid criticism. Otherwise, it's just dumb hangups about nudity.

It's not like there aren't saunas in North America. Hell there's a Nordic Spa in Kananaskis (which is a fantastic spot btw). It's just people tend to wear towels and / or shorts while using them, and they still function as intended.

When we’re in Japan I want to experience an onsen. They’re natural hot springs, usually outdoors, and have nude bathing. There are thousands. My wife won’t join me, lol.

Meh. It's one thing if we are talking about naked people with bodies pleasing to the eye but that's not the majority of the population. I don't care to see the naked bodies and junk from unattractive people. I don't know how many times in a change room I'm minding my own business tying my shoes only to raise my head to see this old, cellulite ass inches from my face from some old guy that enjoys just hanging naked in the change room. I get that retirement can be boring but I don't know why old men love hanging around naked in change rooms so much. I know the standard answer is that when they are old, they don't care what they look like but I care and I don't want that #### in my face.

Been to some awesome onsens in Japan. No one gives a #### that you're naked, since it's just what you do there. Just bare all, embrace it, no one cares.

Certain posters for sure might have a hard time there. But I'd also say that the mentality and culture is also different.

I don't have an issue with that out there, but here, it's gets a little weird at times. It's not a nudity issue, it's how people lounge around in the change area here and posture themselves.

IIRC, people go in and out of change areas for saunas and onsen in Asia and Europe, they don't hang out and do weird postures in the change areas. They certainly might chat and hang out in the bathing area, but they don't spend time in the changing area in the same way some people do here in North America.

I always shower after hockey at the rink. The guy that doesnt? He doesnt get told where beer and wings are after the game.

Also, a lot of you seem to spend way too much time seeing/looking at other peoples junk while in the showers.
